I've been using analog watches all my life.

Lately, I've been trying to be a bit healthier, and all of a sudden I think I've been meta targeted and it's promoting Apple watches heavily. Right now, I'm almost convinced to buy one.

But I read all reviews and everything, I still got few questions,

Is it really important to track everything on daily basis?
And is it actually comfortable to sleep while wearing one? Surprisingly, I haven't seen many reviews talk about that part.
Also it seems bit pricy, I can buy a very decent analog watch with that price. Is the features really worth paying that price?

I want to hear from people who is using it for long time, is it worthy or just hype?

I like mine, but it's not a full fledged smart watch. I'm using the Garmin Lily which is a few steps up from a fitbit but still has some "smart watch" capabilities like notices from my phone. I think one of the most useful things I've noticed is since my blood sugar alarms from the phone app come in form of locked screen notices, my watch picks them up. So I don't have to connect my watch to the app itself like I had in the past with my fitbit. Honestly, that's the only smartwatch function I use.

Then of course the fact that it imports all my daily fitness info to the garmin connect app is nice so I have it all stored.

My husband has a samsung and at this point I think the only thing he really uses it for is notifications and steps. He doesn't use the pay option, or any of the other smartwatch apps out there.

I think it's worth it in most cases, depending on what you're using it for.
You could just have it mainly for one or two things that are important to you in particular and not really have to use it for many other reasons.

Not all the features would be what you actually need it for If it's able to do one thing you need it for well, then I guess it's worth it.

For me, aside from using it to check the time, I mean, that can even be done with the phone.
I don't know if I'm the only one this happens to, but most of the time when I have my watch on, I still check the time on my phone or even forgetfully pull my phone out from pocket to check while my watch is right there on my wrist : D

That's because I don't wear watch all day long and most times only wear it when I'm going out, then take it off as soon as I'm back

Now for the purpose part, one of the major reasons for having a smartwatch is for my jogs, which I think in my case, makes it worth having. Literally, a phone can do that as well but having a watch on is better than carrying a phone when jogging for me.

I don't really use the smartwatch to track anything else other than that

People wear watches to bed? ... Didn't know that's a thing : D

The hype part... lest's just say there's too much hype around the Apple Watch, but I think that's expected just like with any of their products... I use Garmin anyway : )

I use the Fitbit sense 2 and it keeps me accountable for steps, activity etc as well as additional benefits such as monitoring Heart rate and sleep - Highly recommended investment if you're looking to level up your life.

I actually started wearing my old Apple Watch again over the last 3 months, also as part of a healthier lifestyle, to track my activity and steps more accurately and all that. But I can’t sleep in it—it’s uncomfortable—plus the battery only lasts, hmm, a day and a half? Hahaha, thanks, Apple. So, as a “happy” Apple Watch user, I recommend you buy an alternative—there are tons of them—because with the Apple Watch, you’re basically just paying for the brand.
My mom and friends wear watches from other brands, and they sleep in them and charge them once a week...

they just marketing their product , fitness and smart watches there is no connection., just social comparison.

For me, the biggest benefirs is health and fitness tracking feature.

You don't need to track everything, but steps, workouts, and sleep can be useful.

I feel my smartwatch has changed my life. I not only track my steps, workouts and sleep, but use it as an alarm so to not wake up my partner with a phone alarm (it simply vibrates) and I check messages from my phone. It's just great, it's not hype at all, it's totally worth it! Cute poll!

I love my smart watch it helps me a lot in tracking my activities

I bought one a couple of years back, used it for 3-4 month and put it in a drawer, now using a regular watch instead as I did not see the benefits.

Just buy a smart ring, its comfortable and can wear it all time.

For those who want ai to have real time accurate access to your health readings, emotions, moods, stress level, etc, then it will allow for a more immersive and personalized experience for you.

They are already using smartwatch data to more accurately and quickly read sensors and adjust immediately to your mood and health status to provide more personalized ads, make sure there is no second without data collection even if your phone is in pocket, and suggest content that is more relevant to you or that keeps you emotional/consuming.

Those that love ai will keep using smartwatch and those that hate ai will now drop them since they already trained the programs for years. Combining glasses, smartwatch, smartphone, smart appliances, li-fi, etc is much better than just phone data collection and much more profitable for big tech and IM in future.

Can you guess if I wear one or not based on that statement?!

Yeah, exactly sometimes I do check the step counts with my phone, and it's seems to be pretty accurate. I don't know whether I would use other features. Is blood sugar level a smart watch feature?

Yep I am also thinking of using it to track step counts while jogs. But just to count steps, the price is high.
And ofcourse people wearing it while sleeping, how it will track sleep otherwise, Lol :D

I will check on this

I would never sleep with a watch. They say it tracks your sleep and helps improve sleep quality, but for me, wearing one would probably be the reason for my lack of sleep. Lol.

Yes, but still thinking of just track what we actually doing, maybe for couple of months it will be interesting to me

yes SLEEP!! Do you actually wear it while sleeping?

Thanks but you won't feel disturbed? I mean that display light often turns on automatically won't disturb you

Sounds great

Yeah, I prefer analog watches too. I just wanna try, maybe I will also just lock it up after using couple of months. But i don't know.
Just a hype, to get more personal data and tracking!!!
Haha, governments be like 'he is fit, we are taking him to WW3' Lol :P

I don't think so that will be accurate as watches calculate from wrist

You are wearing one, Lol. but you observed what's happening around you when you start wear one. the smartest.
They are addictive. Every morning you look at the app to tell you how you slept..
And then? what you supposed to do about it :suspicious:
I can't see what a smartwatch can do that my phone can't. I'm sure I'll cave in and buy one at some point but like @Dopious, I'm sure I would get fed up of it very quickly.
Haha, I am thinking the same, after couple of months I afraid I won't use it.

I think smartwatches are useful for people who need accountability more than data.

Most of us already know when we are not walking enough, sleeping enough, or exercising enough. The watch does not magically solve those problems, but the constant reminders can help build better habits.

Personally, I think the biggest question is whether you will still be wearing it 6 months from now. If the answer is yes, it's probably worth it. But if you are buying it just out of curiosity, there is a good chance it will end up sitting unused with your other gadgets.

Tried it and went back to rolex. I don't need one more charger and one more screen.

Ever since I started wearing this bad boy the ladies won't stop swooning over me.

One does not mess with the bob.

I had one for years and wore it on and off. Eventually I got an automatic mechanical watch and that thing never leaves my wrist. Sometimes classic is just better.
