From what I’m seeing, most agencies scaling SEO right now are focusing heavily on systems, automation, SOPs, white-label fulfillment, and productized deliverables instead of simply hiring more people. A lot of repetitive work like reporting, audits, briefs, onboarding, tracking, and parts of content workflows are being automated now, while the internal team focuses more on strategy and client communication.
Another big shift is that agencies are standardizing offers instead of doing completely custom work for every client. Once processes, reporting, onboarding, and delivery become structured, it becomes much easier to handle more clients without scaling team size at the same rate. The agencies growing fastest now seem to operate more like systems businesses than traditional service businesses.
