I am seeing a growing trend in demand for calculator or tools websites on reddit.

I am confused as to why. Are people moving from content websites into these? Is this the new gold rush for SEO's?

Tool based websites are easier and cheaper to build/maintain you don't have to keep worrying about adding new content. also it is pretty easy to find long tail keywords with not much competition.

content website = worrying about new content and optimizing each page to that content
Tool based website = no maintenance no need for new content

these are called utility based websites. these always receive alot of traffic like youtube downloader or something caluclator. People always like to compare stuff but as long as your question i dont feel anything suspicious getting high traffic to calculators. i do not beleive such.

For real those sites are not worth anything... There are too many of them

If you are a leader there , it will .ake it very high profit for you.

Calculator and tool-based sites are trending because they solve problems instantly, which both users and Google love. They match search intent perfectly and often get higher engagement than regular blog posts. Plus, they’re easier for AI and search engines to extract direct answers from. It’s not a gold rush, but definitely a smart shift toward utility-driven content.

Easy to install, no need to worry about original content. Do it once and it runs completely automatically.

Yeah, it’s a real trend. People want quick answers, and tools give instant results, which Google now favors more. They also get shared a lot on Reddit and earn links naturally. But it’s not a gold rush, only useful and well-built tools actually work.

Yes but very hard to be a leader for that type of stuff. There are already leaders for those markets.
If you market for specific reasons one needs a calculator you can rank.

I could see how this would make sense from a single targeted use perspective, but sites like these usually remain and rank based on age and KW intent focus.

Tools however can last until basically you get cannabalized which is where things are at now. The cycle betweeen product and MOAT is smaller than ever.

This makes sense. Thanks!

Building a Saas website with Claude becomes easy. Claude can build a saas website in just a few minutes. All you have to do is SEO for it.
I do not see how this reply answers my question.

I agree. If they receive high traffic like you mentioned, I see why they are in demand then since traffic = $

is this trend mainly happening on specific subreddits or is it across the whole platform?

It’s not a gold rush, it’s a shift toward utility first SEO, where tools win by solving user intent instantly.
Easy to build but hard to rank long term success depends on niche focus, backlinks, and solid SEO.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. I think it’s mainly because calculators/tools give instant value, so users spend more time on them compared to regular articles.

Also, they tend to attract natural links and shares, which helps with SEO over time.

Not really a “gold rush,” but definitely a smart addition if it actually solves a real problem

Wasn't that always a thing? I used a lot of random calculators or small tools. The last few months I always used a pizza calculator which calculates the exact measurements for a pizza dough (I make damn good neopolitan pizza now!), and that calculator is rank 1 btw.
