Hello BHW community,
Many creators struggle to get views on their YouTube Shorts lately. After testing a few things, here are 3 tips that are working right now:
1. The First 3 Seconds: You must have a strong visual hook. If the user doesn't stop scrolling in the first 3 seconds, the algorithm will stop pushing your video.
2. Re-watch Value: Short, looping videos (15-20 seconds) usually perform better than longer ones because they get a higher 'View-through rate'.
3. SEO Optimization: Don't ignore the description. Adding 2-3 relevant keywords helps YouTube understand who to show your video to.
What are your thoughts? Are you seeing better reach with long-form or Shorts right now?
Let's discuss!

Solid tips, but #3 (SEO) is getting less relevant for Shorts every day. It’s all about the swipe-away rate now. Personally, I'm seeing way better reach with Shorts for fresh accounts, but long-form is still the king for stable revenue. Nice share though.

Agree on the hook part, first few seconds really decide everything. Also noticed shorter, looping clips tend to perform better lately. Still testing, but Shorts seem more consistent than long form for reach right now.

Is it advisable to upload three videos a day when starting a new channel?"

Agree with this — especially the first 3 seconds and re-watch value. I’d add that retention matters more than length. Even slightly longer Shorts can perform well if people watch till the end or rewatch.

these tips are so basic that i feel like im reading documentation for dummies. the only thing that matter is your hook in first few miliseconds and high bit rate. forget about music hashtags and other useless metadata that algorithm ignore nowaday

are 15-20 second videos really long enough to hold people's attention and get a high view-through rate?

I’ve been seeing the same especially how crucial that first 3 seconds is for stopping the scroll. Looping Shorts definitely help boost retention, and even basic keyword tweaks seem to make a difference lately. I mostly focus on Shorts now and even when testing promos through platforms like Sproutgigs, and the reach feels more consistent than long-form at the moment.

Looping also helps a lot, especially when the video is short enough that people rewatch without realizing it. I’ve seen 12–20 second Shorts perform better than longer ones just because the retention percentage is higher.

Good tips.

Although I'd change it from 3 seconds to 1 second.

It's brutal because we are competing for doomscrollers attention spans.
