Hey everyone,
I have been reading about cloaking techniques where different content is shown to users and search engines.
Some say it still works if done smartly, others say it is a quick way to get banned.
For someone new, is this still being used effectively today, or is it not worth the risk anymore?
Cloaking still
works in 2026 — but it’s not beginner-friendly at all, and the risk is real.
Big players are still using it, especially in aggressive niches (casino, betting, pharma), but they’re doing it with proper setups — clean IP delivery, user-agent filtering, and constantly rotating pages. It’s not just “show A to Google, B to users” anymore.
The problem is Google is much smarter now. With systems like Google Search and updates around SpamBrain, simple cloaking setups get caught pretty fast. One mistake and your domain can get deindexed or burned.
For beginners, it’s honestly not worth it:
- High chance of getting caught
- Requires tools + experience
- You need backup domains ready
Most people lose their site before they see real gains.
Safer approach (even in grey/blackhat):
- Focus on low competition keywords
- Use strong backlinks (guest posts, niche edits, PBNs)
- Build some authority first
Then, if you want to experiment with cloaking, do it on disposable domains, not your main site.
Reality:
Yes, it works
Yes, people still use it
But it’s high risk, high skill
If you’re new, learn ranking first — cloaking is the “advanced + risky” side of SEO.
