I dont do web design because most of the time when a web design client is talking about what they need, I don't know what they are talking about (and neither do they)
but I am doing a project for someone as a favor (I am not even getting paid) and I had to meet with him yesterday so he can explain to me what he needs done. throughout the whole meeting, I am thinking "what the fuck is this guy talking about" and fake nodding.
do you also find yourself fake nodding when meeting with web design clients?

Yes and don't do the fake no nodding because it will come back to bite you
Since you are not getting paid that's should not be a problem.
If you are getting paid and doing fake nodding you will get a negative review or have to return the money or both.
This field is full of tirekickers, penny pinchers, psychos, druggies, criminals just to name a few.
They know that the last thing anyone want to do is webdesign because he/she is broke and don't have a job.

what am i supposed to do when i dont know what the fuck the client is talking about ?
example: "i want to integrate the website with amazon"
i dont know what the fuck that means. now your next question is "did you try asking the client for clarification?" no because the client doesn't know what he means either.

Why not give them choices based on what they are asking so you can get to what they think they want?

A lot of sales is asking questions so you can do your best to serve them.

You can even show them examples of what you think they might want as visuals sell very well.
