Seeing a lot of people saying SEO is dead because of AI Overviews… but I don’t really see it.

Rankings and indexing still working fine on my side.
Only basic info keywords seem to lose some clicks.
Buyer and intent keywords still bring traffic.

Feels like SEO isn’t dead, just changing a bit. Anyone else seeing the same?

I agree with your point, but my experience has been different. From what I’m observing, SEO is just getting more structured based on user intent.

It feels like Google is now segmenting users into different layers:
  1. Users who just want basic information
  2. Users who want information and are starting to evaluate
  3. Users comparing options
  4. Users with clear buying intent
AI Overviews seem to mainly handle the first group (pure informational queries). So for those keywords, clicks are definitely dropping because users get their answers directly on Google. But once you move into decision-making or comparison queries, traffic still comes in. And for buyer-intent keywords, nothing has really changed; those are still performing well.

In a way, it looks like Google is filtering out low-intent traffic and keeping high-intent users flowing to websites.

SEO is shifting from informational content to decision-focused content.

Looking Forward For Your Responses!

yes SEO is not dead and still drives majority of clicks/purchases. + whether you appear in AI Overview depends mainly on your SEO, the recommended companies are the companies with strongest SEO.

Great to hear about your words. Looking more to know what's others mind state.

Yeah, I am seeing the same pattern. SEO isn’t really dying, it’s just shifting. Informational queries are the ones getting hit the most because AI Overviews are answering them directly, so even if rankings stay the same, clicks naturally drop. But when it comes to buyer-intent or decision-based queries, users still need to evaluate options, compare, and trust a source, so traffic is holding much better there. What’s changing is how value is distributed informational content is becoming more about visibility and brand presence, while commercial content is still driving real traffic and conversions.

I agree!

SEO is the bones of the internet really. You would have a dead internet theory
in overdrive if publishers stopped with websites because AI makes them invaluable. After all,
most AI models rely on data already on the internet and not from AI trainers.

I'm seeing the same thing. SEO isn't dead - it's just evolving. Basic informational keywords are definitely losing some clicks to AI Overviews, but rankings and indexing are still fine on my end. Buyer and high-intent keywords continue to drive traffic because people still want to do their own research before making a decision.

I think the people saying SEO is dead are mostly those who relied on thin content or purely informational queries. For the rest, focused on genuine value and commercial intent, things are still working - it's just shifting toward quality over quantity.

SEO is not dead it is simply changing with time.Google AI overviews affect informationla searches, while buyer intent keywords still perform well.Even if clicks drop suddenly, ranking and indexing are still important.what matters now is focusing on search intent, deeper content, and real value for users.

You are exactly right. The only people crying about SEO being dead are the ones who relied on publishing ten dollar articles to answer basic questions. AI killed the lazy info sites, not SEO. If you look at how Google's AI actually selects its sources, it is just looking at the link graph. They can not verify facts in real time, so they rely on domain authority. I am actually seeing a traffic bump because I am using tools like GSA to hammer my tier 2s and push massive authority to my money pages. We aren't building messy link wheels on all engines anymore. It is a hybrid game now. Use LLMs for the contextuals, pick specific engines in your software, and just keep pushing authority. The algorithm hasn't changed its core metric, it just changed how it displays the result.

Interested to hear all your answers. Looking Forward for more info!

Yes I see, Google is just answering basic questions directly, but anything with real intent still needs websites. So SEO works just fine.

Like many said if you are on informational keywords then you will see some decrease for sure..But for commercial intent / brand able or anything you need to see inside AI overview / get organic traffic or even visible organically then you need citation for that you need backlinks what i am trying to saying is nothing change its same thing different colors. Actually doing seo is easy than earlier thanks to AI.

Ex . while i am typing this i am building 3 websites on autopilior and commanding corrections (layout lol ) and i am also generating content for my hungery Rx and gsa

Good to hear that, by the way on the tools, do you use sernuke with GSA? or only use bought links? do you also use tools like rankerx? I'm lurking on the forum and haven't found out which is better.

Yes i am a big fan of SERNUKE (not senuke lol). But you definitely want to buy a link list like serlinks / serverifiedlists or any suggested link list they recommend, or else you will have to scrape which is not worth the time and actually more expensive. If you ask me to choose only one thing, i would purchase a good verified link list first, cause GSA already comes with default engines and it works fine. But paying extra for sernuke engines is essential and after all GSA, SERnuke those kind of things are come with a one time fee. So why not to grab all the bells and whistles.

Yes exactly cause AI using backlinks for citation. Actually SEO = AEO now so yeah its just the same thing not a different thing. When my friends asking me whats the new secret method for 2026 i ask my self why they even think that way. most of them are just newbies who watch youtube videos and belive everything has changed... AI engines cant actually read every page to verify facts, they just look at your backlink profile to decide who has the authority to cite. just keep doing what you are doing and keep building those links.
