We’ve all seen the shift. With Meta’s latest AI update, the way the algorithm treats "Passive Browsing" (Images) vs. "Active Engagement" (Video) has changed significantly. I’ve been running split tests across Finance and E-com niches for the past quarter, and the results are... mixed.
1. The Case for Static Images (The "Underestimated" King)
Many gurus claim "Video is everything," but in my recent campaigns, static images are still holding their ground in specific areas.- The Advantage: Higher CTR (Click-Through Rate) on direct-response offers. People know exactly what they’re clicking on.
- The "Secret Sauce": Using high-contrast, "anti-design" (ugly/authentic) images to break the scroll.
- Metric: Lower CPC (Cost Per Click) but sometimes higher bounce rates on the landing page.
2. The Case for Short-form Video/Reels (The "Algorithm Darling")
If you want Reach, you go Video. But Reach $\neq$ Revenue.- The Advantage: Massive "Pre-warming." A 15-second explainer builds more trust than any static banner ever could.
- The Problem: High "Creative Fatigue." You need to refresh your hooks every 48-72 hours or your CPMs will skyrocket.
- Metric: Higher CVR (Conversion Rate) because the traffic is "pre-sold" before they even hit the site.
My 2026 Hybrid Strategy
Currently, I’m using Videos for Top of Funnel (TOF) to build custom audiences based on "95% video views," then Retargeting (MOF/BOF) those users with Static Image social proof/results.Let's Discuss:
- Are you seeing better CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) with Reels or classic Single Image ads right now?
- In "Grey-hat" niches (Crypto/Gambling), is Video still the best way to bypass the initial AI creative filter?
- How often are you rotating your video hooks to avoid the "Creative Decay"?
