Update 15​

March 05.
This is the update for the fifteenth week.

There is a down trend in impressions for the last couple days. I haven’t posted much this week, for example for the last 3 days I posted only 2 pins a day. I believe I would still see a downtrend even if I kept posting more. Pinterest has been making lots of updates and I can see that lot of accounts have been affected (In my niche).
I mentioned last week that I am trying out a new strategy where I pin strategically, I’m still doing that.

Does Pinterest care about aged vs fresh account, or phone vs PC upload or anything like that? I am trying to start a page based on astrology for cpa.

After seeing some Pinterest journeys posted here, I thought of doing this one, but I will do it differently.

I have a website and a Pinterest account that I haven't touched in six years. (I tend to start online projects and then give up.)
The website was in a skincare niche and had only 11 articles posted.
I plan to revive the site and change it into a fashion blog (Fashion is one of the most popular topics on Pinterest).
My main strategy will be to find trending/hot fashion topics on Pinterest, write articles about them, and then make a lot of Pinterest pins.

Why Am I sharing this Journey here:
1 - When I was looking at Pinterest journeys posted here, I’ve noticed that a lot of you are not familiar with Pinterest. And given how it has become harder to get traffic from Google searches, most of you are looking for ways to get traffic from other channels. People on here doing the journeys are using the blackhat methods that will likely get the Pinterest account banned. I know this is a blackhat forum, but a lot of people want to build their Pinterest accounts in a way that won't get them banned. (Using a tool to mass-create a hundred pins and posting way too many pins a day, will likely get your account banned). I’ll be doing it differently, i.e. following the Pinterest guidelines.

2- I tend to abandon projects. Sharing my journey here will motivate me to keep going.

How I’m doing it Differently:
-I’ll create all the pins manually using Canva Pro.
-I’ll not post more than 5 of my own pins a day.
-I’ll be active on Pinterest repining other’s content
-After a time, when I have a lot of content published, I’ll start to use a scheduling tool for Pinterest.

What I’ve Done so Far:
-I've changed the design of the website,
-Deleted all the old articles except one
-Posted two new articles, two more articles are scheduled for today.
-Made 5 pins for each article I published (10 pins in total), posted two pins on Pinterest, and the rest is scheduled for 1 each day. .

Challenges I may Face:
-The biggest challenge is creating the articles. It’s taking way too much time. The articles are/will be listicles, and I have to add way too many images. The larger the list the more images I need to add.
When I succeed then I’ll just hire someone to do it for me.

-Another challenge is creating the pins. But now it’s not of much a challenge, I've already made five different templates, and I’ll just keep using the same templates for other pins to come.

-I also need to be active on the Pinterest platform at least every day, repining other people's pins, and looking for inspirations for my next blog post.


My Background:
I have experience with Pinterest. I had a successful website that was getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest (I sold the website). The Pinterest account had 3M views, I don't remember how many visitors I had, but I remember that I was making around 2K USD/month from Mediavine. That website relied only on Pinterest since the site was hit by Google's Medic Update. That was 5-6 years ago. Pinterest has since then gone through a lot of updates, but I believe that it still works the same way.

Five years ago I sold most of my website portfolio, I wanted to focus on school. Now that I’m almost done with school, I’m starting to build websites a gain.

My Plan:
I’ll be documenting everything I’m doing. I’ll try to post at least twice a week for updates.

This seems like a great plan for using Pinterest in a smart and lasting way. Your previous achievements really help you build a strong base. It's smart to concentrate on making high-quality content and pinning things by hand.
Later on, getting help with writing articles is a clever way to grow. Keeping things fresh with regular updates will keep everyone interested; best of luck on your adventure!

This account is still stuck, but I'm also not posting much.

4rd month in review:​

It’s been 4 months since I started this journey, and below you can see how the account is performing.

-
I get most impressions on Saturdays followed by Friday. (The high spikes on the graph).
Couple weeks ago I started to make text overlay pins using an ai tool, and mentioned that I will see how they perform and decide if I should keep using an ai tool.
I can now say that they are surprisingly performing great, some of the pins have more impressions than the ones I manually made with Canva. Personally I think the ai pins look very bad, but still they are getting lots of impressions. Maybe it’s not about the aesthetic of the pin but the content/topic of the pin.
Going forward I’ll be making pins with an ai, but not all of them. (50/50).

There were pinterest updates going on that caused a lot of accounts to lose impression and traffic, I can see that many accounts have recovered and are growing. My account looks like it will also recover.

I'm not sure why my account is stuck.
My plan is to target seasonal content, maybe some of it will go viral. Like last year, I had some seasonal pins go viral which boosted my account to a million impressions.
I also need to pins more, I'm only pinning 2 - 5 pins a day. That's not enough.
Also some topics are popular that others, if only there was a way to find out which topics are popular, so I can target those.
I've noticed that some of my pins do not get much impressions, probably because the topic is not popular.

I'm publishing more content, maybe I should slow down and make new pins for existing content instead.

- As for Mediavine, I've made ca. 100USD so far. I don't expect to make more with the traffic I'm getting.

I'm back.
A year has passed since my last update. A lot have happened.
I've noticed less discussions on BHW about Pinterest since last year, and many Pinterest journeys I was following hasn't made any update just like me.
Long story short, last year Pinterest was full of ai slop, and they started to heavily clean it up in March 2025 (I think). Many Pinterest accounts were heavily damaged including mines.
I had enough time for reflection, and have decided to grow a completely new account in 2016 (It's 3 months old now).
I've learned from my mistakes and believe that I can make the new account bullet proof from getting crushed. If it gets crushed then I'll give up from making any new Pinterest accounts.

You sound exactly like me when my main account got terminated. I desperately wanted to start a new account and make it work this time. The problem with this approach is that even though you think you're doing everything right, an algo update/false anti-spam filter can still shut you down.

Want the quick fix for this? Start as many accounts as you possibly can. Automate the boring tasks (writing articles, creating pins, generating pin titles/descriptions, scheduling pins, etc.) with AI (even if you intend to use real images for blog posts/pins) as much as you can. I'm constantly building small tools that speed up my workflow.

Yes, I still use AI a lot and are some accounts getting hit? Absolutely. That's part of the game when you're doing Pinterest. You can't expect a steady upward trajectory forever. Some accounts go down, others go up. I still get annoyed when an account drops but at the same time, it kind of motivates me to improve my systems, produce better quality content and take it from there.

Lat time I was spending too much time on creating articles, images and pins. It was annoying when my account dropped. I could not even save it. Basically, my website got banned (suspended), and I couldn't get it back through appeals.
This time I'm automating everything, I can make hundreds of pins (good looking pins), schedule them, in a very short time. So if this new account gets suspended, I wont feel like I've wasted too much of my time.
I'll be running one account at a time, maybe after I achieve 1K visitors a day, then I may start a new account and warm it up. Running multiple accounts at the same time is not for me..

I don't know if there's a way to solve this problem.

Is your web traffic coming from tier 1 countries? Also how does your website look?

You can't expect to get approved with a 100% AI listicle site in 2026... Add real featured images for the posts on the homepage, categories. Try to hide the AI images as deep as possible, so they aren't the first thing that the reviewer will see. Make the site, homepage, about us, etc. more branded with a unique color palette + design elements (very easy to do with a simple WP blocks plugin). Include more stuff than just articles, so something like a news section, quizzes, polls, tools, email subscribe forms, ecom shop, digital products, etc. The idea is to not make it look like an obvious MFA site. I got a site approved by Ezoic and GAM (Google Ad Manager) a few days ago using this strategy. It's not impossible to get monetized but yeah, it's definitely gotten harder and you need to put more effort than the usual to have a chance at earning some decent income from niche sites driving traffic from Pinterest.

Do you reclaim domain on new Pinterest account if the one it was attached to gets banned? Or you suggesting starting with new domain as well?

Did you get the account banned for spam? Pinterest typically bans the acc and blocks the domain shortly after (a few days max). It's risky to reuse the domain because a penalty (shadowban, suppression in reach, etc.) might carry over to it. I'd buy a new domain and potentially duplicate the content from the old domain.

Pinterest seems to have made a new update recently.
Pins with text over images no longer appear at the top.
When I search for keywords, the top results are now either video pins or pins with only images.
It seems to have slightly reduced traffic to my site.
