[Journey] Growing a Pinterest Account from 0 to 500+ Web Visitors a Day.

After seeing some Pinterest journeys posted here, I thought of doing this one, but I will do it differently.

I have a website and a Pinterest account that I haven't touched in six years. (I tend to start online projects and then give up.)
The website was in a skincare niche and had only 11 articles posted.
I plan to revive the site and change it into a fashion blog (Fashion is one of the most popular topics on Pinterest).
My main strategy will be to find trending/hot fashion topics on Pinterest, write articles about them, and then make a lot of Pinterest pins.

Why Am I sharing this Journey here:
1 - When I was looking at Pinterest journeys posted here, I’ve noticed that a lot of you are not familiar with Pinterest. And given how it has become harder to get traffic from Google searches, most of you are looking for ways to get traffic from other channels. People on here doing the journeys are using the blackhat methods that will likely get the Pinterest account banned. I know this is a blackhat forum, but a lot of people want to build their Pinterest accounts in a way that won't get them banned. (Using a tool to mass-create a hundred pins and posting way too many pins a day, will likely get your account banned). I’ll be doing it differently, i.e. following the Pinterest guidelines.

2- I tend to abandon projects. Sharing my journey here will motivate me to keep going.

How I’m doing it Differently:
-I’ll create all the pins manually using Canva Pro.
-I’ll not post more than 5 of my own pins a day.
-I’ll be active on Pinterest repining other’s content
-After a time, when I have a lot of content published, I’ll start to use a scheduling tool for Pinterest.

What I’ve Done so Far:
-I've changed the design of the website,
-Deleted all the old articles except one
-Posted two new articles, two more articles are scheduled for today.
-Made 5 pins for each article I published (10 pins in total), posted two pins on Pinterest, and the rest is scheduled for 1 each day. .

Challenges I may Face:
-The biggest challenge is creating the articles. It’s taking way too much time. The articles are/will be listicles, and I have to add way too many images. The larger the list the more images I need to add.
When I succeed then I’ll just hire someone to do it for me.

-Another challenge is creating the pins. But now it’s not of much a challenge, I've already made five different templates, and I’ll just keep using the same templates for other pins to come.

-I also need to be active on the Pinterest platform at least every day, repining other people's pins, and looking for inspirations for my next blog post.

I have experience with Pinterest. I had a successful website that was getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest (I sold the website). The Pinterest account had 3M views, I don't remember how many visitors I had, but I remember that I was making around 2K USD/month from Mediavine. That website relied only on Pinterest since the site was hit by Google's Medic Update. That was 5-6 years ago. Pinterest has since then gone through a lot of updates, but I believe that it still works the same way.

Five years ago I sold most of my website portfolio, I wanted to focus on school. Now that I’m almost done with school, I’m starting to build websites a gain.

My Plan:
I’ll be documenting everything I’m doing. I’ll try to post at least twice a week for updates.

Hi, I'm probably not an expert but I'll share my experience with you. I use Chatgpt for everything that is image, title and description optimized for pins. then I use Canva Pro to put text on the image. I publish 4/5 pins per day. I reached 2 million impressions. My account is less than a year old.

I'm not quite sure if you're referring to my thread in particular, but allow me to give my two cents. Just because someone has the tools to automate the creation of content and pins and is pinning more than 5 pins a day doesn't mean they are breaking Pinterest's guidelines.

If you really want an example of what blackhat looks like on Pinterest, here is one - boredpanda and dijbi using thousands of burner accounts (boredpanda actually pays people in 3rd world countries to do this), stealing pins from publishers, and redirecting them to their articles. Now that is classic blackhat.

yes its safe to use adsense, later once you get 50k sessions its better to Monetize with Mediavine as their RPMs are higher.

Update 1: ​

It’s been a week since my last post, and here is an update on what I've been working on.

At the start, I was pining mostly other people's pins and a little bit of my own. (but from now on, I’ll be pinning my own pins).
-I’ve published 12 articles and made 5 pins for each article.
-I've started using a scheduling tool (so most of the pins are scheduled for 5 - 7 pins a day.
-I mentioned that creating articles is challenging (time consuming), but not anymore. I won't be focusing on the articles anymore. I’ll focus on that in the future when I start to get traffic. I find it pointless to spend so much time editing articles and adding images when no one is going to land there any time soon. My main focus is now on creating the pins and optimizing them for SEO (Pinterest is a search engine)
-I’ve also spent time designing the website (maybe I shouldn't have focused on that)
-I’ve tried to join group boards but had zero luck. Most boards looked spammy, and I couldn't get into the good ones. I've sent messages and emails but still couldn't get in a single one. I believe that posting in group boards would increase my account Impressions fast. But I’ve also learned that group boards are not as effective as they used to be. I won't stress about getting on a group board anymore. Many accounts grow without groupboards or followers.

What about performance:​

It’s too early to expect any good performance. But given all the pins I've scheduled, I expect an increase in impressions in the coming weeks.

What next:​

I will take two days off to work on something else. Then I continue to produce content and pins. I just need to make sure that the scheduling tool always has pins.

Great! i am also do the same as your but it has been slow growth. My impression for last 30 days is : 4.8k, and my doubt is if i am posting in a topic where there is no pin related but i have posted pin related to the topic and optimized but while search my pin is not showing idk why. Any suggestions?

It takes 3 - 6 months for pins to start showing up in search results (for a new account). If you are in a competitive niche, most general keywords (short-tail keywords) are already taken and optimized by other accounts. I'd go after long-tail keywords. At least that's what I'm doing with my account. Treat Pinterest like a search engine.
