Hello
I have built a method using Instagram and WhatsApp where our main focus is our model being available to chat.
The thing is, it's getting to the point where we need more people to be able to respond to all chats, also we are looking to expand to other countries.
I'm trying to actually hire people, not only commission.

For that i have a couple questions:
-Where can I find people that would be interested in learning our business and fulfill our needs?
I saw some OF agencies, but I'm not convinced, I think it would be best to find and train people people individually to our needs. We don't need a top tier chatter since our profit is not based on selling trough a chat, actually quite the opposite, we need people that can maintain a basic conversation while still engaging with the user. So I don't mind people that are just starting.

-What is a competitive salary nowadays?

Are OF chatters getting paid by the hour or only commission based?

Thanks in advance <3

technically, you can find chatters in any place where people are looking for work. but some platforms won't allow you to post such kinds of ads, so you have to find a way to bypass.
TG groups like ofmjobs or website like donutjobs can be your starting point.

most of the agencies are underpaying their chatters. pay $2/h + 2% commision and you will get noobs and lazy fckers. if you treat people like humans and show respect by not offering them dimes, maybe you will have a chance of assembling a team of closers.
P.S.: a chatter should earn you at least 3x of his salary.

I didn't think about TG groups, I will start with that, thanks!
Since I've been working mostly alone and hiring people independently, is there any other websites/tools/groups I should know?

I'm glad you said that, I was gonna overpay like crazy lol.
I still agree with your advice that the better the pay, more competent people will want to have that job.

Thanks.

found my first one off of upwork then he introduced me to like 10 other people from his community and family who wanted to work. They're all Filipino

I dont pay by commission & id never pay them 2/hr especially if they are good at English and reliable at working. I pay 5-7/hr on a weekly basis

Agencies are taking huge cuts for nothing (maybe only software can justify, but still totally unnecessary) so won't recommend. As for where to find individuals - you usually want to reach your unemployed friends, because a random guy can fuck up whole operation. I know a guy who got drunk once and started to write users about this whole business. Dude just can't stand to see penises all day. If you still want to get someone random - Telegram has plenty (at least in Russian) of chats dedicated to the topic which has people with experience.

Usually starters are being paid hourly and good employees are getting both.

this is so true. many look for cheap workers and end up getting people who can hardly do the job.

There are agencies that handle this for a percentage of the profit if you can prove earnings. If not you might have to hire people to start

99% of chatters don’t know how to handle a selling conversation. Never go for the cheap ones...there are many people from Nigeria, India, or elsewhere who are useless when it comes to this topic (Maybe you got lucky, but my experience has shown me it doesn’t make sense....). My recommendation is to go to an agency and look for a percentage based deal. They will manage everything... you just have to bring the hot leads.

Either hire VAs, train them, and filter them after a few weeks, or find an agency to do this for you so that you can focus on your business.

You might want to look on general freelance platforms or social media job groups and focus on clear training and expectations, as many chat roles are paid hourly with optional performance bonuses rather than commission only.

Building on the idea of finding individual trainees, I've had success recruiting chat responders through online job boards like We Work Remotely and FlexJobs, offering a base hourly rate of $12-15 with performance bonuses. This approach allows for more control over the training process and has resulted in higher quality conversations. For expansion into other countries, consider using platforms like Fiverr or Upwork to find bilingual responders, and be prepared to pay a premium of 10-20% for language expertise. In my experience, a competitive salary for entry-level chat responders is around $15-20 per hour, with commission-only structures typically reserved for more experienced sales-oriented roles.
