As an SEO, What tool you use the most? Ahrefs or Semrush?

Errrr, I get my best intel from manually checking the "People also ask" and "Related searches" boxes on Google. It's like getting a free content strategy direct from the source! The big tools are great, but sometimes the best data is just sitting there on the SERP for anyone to see.

On a daily basis, I use Ahrefs to analyze link profiles and check the overall SEO status of client websites. It’s really helpful for tracking backlinks, monitoring competitors, and spotting link growth or loss.

For deeper insights, I rely on Semrush, as it provides plenty of options and suggestions to optimize both the site and its content. I especially find its keyword research, site audit, and content optimization tools very useful for building the right strategy

Ahrefs is better in quality, but its limits prevent me from scaling my analytics. That's why I use Semrush.
Lifehack: Semrush and Ahrefs don't necessarily have to be purchased directly. There are many intermediaries and crowdfunding sites where subscriptions to these tools start at $5-6 per month.

I am using both - Ahrefs & SEMrush, also Ubersuggest is nice tool.. it adds additional data.
Ahrefs is best I will say... SEMrush I dont like much because its russian tool
For additional onpage research Screaming Frog is great.

Screaming Frog can provide a lot of audit data for a lot cheaper than Semrush.

Just use Google Search Console is an incredibly valuable resource, especially since it's free. If you use shared account have you noticed any limitations or restrictions on the features or data available compared to having a full paid account?

My choice is Ahrefs.


I like working with both keywords and backlinks there. Maybe SEMrush is slightly more convenient for keyword research, but Ahrefs suits me well - I understand it very deeply. For now, I’ve completely stopped using SEMrush.


The only downside is the price. Ahrefs is expensive, but for efficient and high-quality work, it’s essential for me.

I’ve found the bigger difference isn’t the tool itself but how it fits into your workflow. Ahrefs feels stronger when the priority is competitive gap and link evaluation, while Semrush tends to be more useful when projects require broader visibility tracking and reporting.

That said, neither replaces manual SERP review. The tool can surface patterns, but the real advantage comes from interpreting what the top results are actually doing.

I’ve used both, and for me Ahrefs wins by many factors. I just can’t get past how bad Semrush’s batch analysis is. Organic rankings are shown only for specific traffic and can’t be viewed for all traffic. There are no titles for top pages, only links.
