Over the past year I’ve been using Ahrefs and SEMrush less and less. I finally decided to cancel SEMrush altogether.
Yeah, I’ll lose a couple of leads from my agency profile and the backlink that comes with it, but honestly it’s not worth the price anymore.
Especially now that there are so many alternative tools available that let you pull raw data and run your own AI-based analysis on top of it.
My biggest problem with the big SEO platforms is data accuracy. In a lot of cases, their traffic and keyword estimates aren’t even remotely close to what I see in real analytics.
And bad data is worse than no data at all.
Bad data pushes you toward confident but wrong conclusions—which is far more dangerous than knowing you’re working with uncertainty.
For that reason alone, I can’t justify paying hundreds per month anymore.
Curious if anyone else here is also ditching the big SEO tools this year?
