Is Blogger with custom domain good from SEO perspective?

oh, come back to SEO in 2026 and thinking about Blogger. And, okay, read the post and decided to ignore it! Thanks bro!

Blogger doesn’t carry much authority anymore — WordPress is the better choice. It’s far more flexible, widely adopted, and the go-to platform for modern blogging.

I understand blogger doesn't have as many options and flexibility that you get with WP, and there is also a risk of google removing your blog.

But apart from that and being a part of Google, does blogger have any advantage from SEO point of view? Or makes new difference? Or they don't rank well?
Yes, that's true. Blogger has fewer customization options and less flexibility compared to WordPress, which can limit your blog's creativity and functionality. Furthermore, Google's control means there's a risk your blog could be deleted or discontinued, which isn't the case with WordPress. WordPress gives you more control over your content and allows you to choose where to host it, providing many users with greater peace of mind.

Blogger with a custom domain can work for SEO, but it has limits.

✅ Good for small niche sites and testing ideas
✅ Fast hosting and easy indexing
❌ Limited technical SEO control
❌ Not ideal for scaling authority projects

It’s more about content, structure, and backlinks than the platform itself.

Anyone here running a long-term authority site on Blogger in 2026?

Yes Blogger can rank, but it has no SEO boost just because it’s from Google.

It’s fine for beginners and indexing is solid, but for long-term SEO control and growth, WordPress is usually the better choice than Blogger.

It works, but in the long run, it will tie your hands a bit.

For starters, especially if you're on a tight budget, a custom domain name + Blogger is perfectly fine. You won't have any problems with indexing, etc.

But if you want to grow, customize, and build something serious, at some point you'll want to switch to a more flexible platform.

That's the only good thing I'll say about Blogger - they index well, and I've certainly seen them used creatively for bulk indexing of spam links because of this. For any sort of traffic or ranking, it's time came and went a good while ago.

If you don't have a budget, a custom domain name + Blogger will do the trick. Indexing is generally reliable.

However, it no longer has the same power in terms of traffic and long-term SEO. It can take you so far, then it gets stuck.

Blogger’s own subdomain is much more advantageous for SEO, but branding is just as difficult. In my opinion, a custom domain is definitely necessary.

Blogger has very little scope of customisation and Google didn't bother about innovating it. I guess blogger lost most of the users with the fall of Google plus. Now Google itself is hardly ranking blogger, so it's better to avoid them.

In my opinion, Blogger with a custom domain is fine for SEO, but you get more control and features if you use WordPress or similar platforms.

I don't think its good if you are serious about SEO and rankings, You need customizable options to rank and improve overall site quality and thats simply not possible with the blogger

How bulk indexing Tier1 backlinks with Blogger?

How bulk indexing Tier1 backlinks with Blogger?
I see users just pasting a load of links to their urls, usually 'foundation link' type urls, into a post - nothing special but the index ratio seems ok for what it is. Personally I wouldn't want to dump all my url together in one place.

Is Blogger with a custom domain still good from an SEO perspective in 2026, or is WordPress a better option for long-term rankings and authority?

I know some people running Blogger and doing quite well over the years;

An example is problogbooster.com
The truth is that real mastery of SEO, HTML and JavaScript is required to make maximum benefits from Blogger.

Blogger with a custom domain can rank just fine if the content and backlinks are strong, but it doesn’t offer any special SEO advantage compared to other platforms.

I'll agree with the majority view here that there are better options for SEO than Blogger. But if you use a free modern, professional looking and responsive template, don't want to spend for hosting or even a TLD, and you're not looking to make it a primary focus website, a free Blogger or WP site is fine. It can be used as a training ground place to try out ranking campaigns, black hat campaigns and other secondary projects.

Have you seen any difference in crawl or indexing speed between Blogger and self-hosted platforms in your projects?
Also, in competitive niches, does the platform itself make any noticeable impact, or does content quality and topical relevance still outweigh the CMS choice?

Blogger may not provide the same level of credibility or customization. WordPress is generally a stronger choice due to its flexibility, scalability, and broad adoption within the blogging community.
