I’m running multiple campaigns and worried about bots wasting my ad budget. Some campaigns get tons of clicks but no conversions, and I think bots might be the reason.
Has anyone dealt with this before? What methods or tools do you use to prevent bot traffic and protect your ads?

Bot traffic is a common problem, especially on higher-volume campaigns. What’s helped me is closely monitoring server logs to spot abnormal patterns, then blocking bad IPs or entire ranges when needed.

I also use additional traffic filtering and validation before visitors reach the offer, which helps cut down on low-quality clicks. It takes some effort to set up and maintain, but it definitely reduces wasted spend and gives cleaner data to optimize from.

Tools that keep an eye on and filter out dubious traffic can help you save money. Always keep a careful eye on your campaigns, look at how people click on them, and change your targeting to cut down on wasted money. Being careful and diligent definitely helps keep your adverts safe.

Check your analytics for red flags like 0% bounce rates, unusually short sessions, or traffic from irrelevant countries. Google Ads and Facebook have built-in bot filtering, but it's not perfect.

For better protection, use tools like ClickCease or PPC Protect that automatically block suspicious IPs. Also tighten your targeting by excluding sketchy placement networks, setting geo-restrictions to your actual customer locations, and adding IP exclusions for repeat offenders.

If you're seeing legitimate bot fraud, contact your ad platform's support and request a refund for invalid clicks. They'll review and usually credit you back. What platform are you running these campaigns on?

We have many tools to block those bots if you do a search. Even some agencies have this feature in their panel without any extra costs

Using a click fraud tool then blocking weird IPs/placements and tightening geo/device targeting can cut a lot of that fake click stuff.

Dealing with bot traffic can be tricky. A good way to protect your campaigns is to block suspicious IP addresses and use tools like Google Analytics to identify unusual traffic patterns. If you see a lot of visits without conversions, that's a clear red flag. You can also use tools like Cloudflare to filter bot traffic. It's important to segment your audiences well and adjust your campaign settings to reach the right people. And don't forget to monitor your metrics regularly to make adjustments when necessary, thus better managing your budget.

firstly, turn off search partners and display network in your settings because that's where 90% of the trash traffic comes from. use a tool like clickcease or clickguard to auto-block ips in real-time, and add a simple recaptcha to your landing page so bots can't trigger conversion pixels and mess up your optimization.

Yeah, I’ve dealt with this before. If you’re getting clicks with zero conversions, it’s often low-quality or bot traffic. I usually add traffic filtering rules, block suspicious IP ranges, and exclude poor placements early. Also, setting stricter geo/device targeting and monitoring click patterns daily helps reduce wasted spend a lot.

honestly the best way to save your budget from bot traffic is by using cloaking. FB own filters are pretty weak so junk traffic and scanners pass through easily. first thing you should do is turn off Audience Network in your placements and just stick to feeds and stories. i’ve personally tested a few tools but right now i’m using TrafficShield. their bot database and filtering stay quite up to date with FB new scanners and it blocks the junk before it even hits the landing page. for me this has been the most reliable way to protect my ad budget so far.

And how exactly does this help your ad budget? You still pay for those clicks, they just won't reach your real landing page.

CAPTCHA should be a very good solution that will help it now depend on which one you decide to use, humanly or programmed

You should use IP-tracking software and block IPs that click more than twice within a short period of time. I also use this kind of software, and it significantly reduces non-genuine clicks.

This is also very good to reduce and CAPTCHA

turn off search partners and display network first, and use clickcease if you still see fake traffic.

True, you still pay for the click, but it saves your budget by keeping your Pixel data clean. If bots hit your real landing page, Facebook thinks they are 'good users' and spends your entire budget finding more bots like them. I've used TrafficShield it stops this Pixel Poisoning. also, it hides your money page from Meta’s scanners, so your Ad Accounts last much longer. Replacing banned accounts and BMs is a huge hidden cost that this helps avoid.

We recently started using HideMyAd on our casino PPC campaigns, and it quickly became clear that a big part of our traffic wasn’t real users. The biggest red flags were unusually high CTR on certain search terms and a large share of hidden search terms where we couldn’t even see what people were searching for.

What changed for us was the visibility and the ability to act on it. HideMyAd started flagging suspicious traffic in real time, we pushed blocking rules through Cloudflare, and used the IP lists to exclude bad traffic in Google Ads. Within days, the data got cleaner and campaigns felt more stable. Start with Observation mode and switch to Enforce once you have enough data.

Use click fraud protection tools and monitor your traffic sources closely. Block suspicious IPs, exclude low-quality placements, and track user behavior with analytics. A lot of fake clicks come from bad traffic sources, so test carefully.
