PBNs in 2026: Still work, but barely worth it anymore.
The math:
Proper PBN site: $150-200/month (unique hosting, IPs, content, clean domains)
Quality guest post: $80-300 one-time, zero deindexing risk
Your mixed results?
Good PBNs = aged domains, real content, proper footprint management
Bad PBNs = cheap expired domains on shared hosting → deindexed
My approach:
80% guest posts/niche edits
20% real content sites that happen to link out (not traditional PBNs)
Bottom line: Unless you're spending $2K+ to build it right, stick with guest posting. Safer, scalable, sustainable.

you seem to be bad at math lol.
150-200 for how many sites? if you can do all by yourself its much cheaper. you just need a server and domains. if you don't want to spend money on IP's, you can use cloudflare to hide.
a guest post can vanish anytime and you lose the link juice or the site selling guest posts becomes a link farm, which can also hurt your site as google always hated bought links.
your bottom line is correct, if you can't do it yourself, be prepared to spend at least 2k for someone to set it up, but long term it's a good investment + you can also use the PBN sites as direct money sites as well, not just for backlinks but affiliate sites. you just have to be creative. a proper PBN site is not different from any normal website. you have to promote it the same way to be effective, but then you have a stable solid link source where you can get root domain/index links which are much stronger as on some random sub-page

This is true and this is the case here. Quality pbns are not dead and sometimes those are more powerful than taditional guest post.

PBNs are definitely not dead, they are actually still the secret weapon for ranking fast. the mixed results people see usually come from using cheap, spammy links that look fake.
If you get links from strong, clean domains with high metrics, they still pack way more power than a standard guest post, you don't need to quit using them you just need to make sure you are getting them from a solid, high-quality source that knows how to hide footprints.

PBNs can still be worth it in 2026 when they’re rebuilt properly and used selectively, but they work best as a supporting tactic alongside high quality guest posts, not as a standalone strategy.

They're definitely still worth building, especially more so in international niches, but as long as you keep the 'P' in PBN standing for 'Private'. As soon as you open it up for external sales and reports you're on borrowed time.

Guest posting isn’t the only way to rank; it’s just the safest to scale. The best results come from combining both with clean velocity and natural placements.

I’ve tested both recently. PBNs can still move the needle short-term, but results are riskier and less stable. High-quality guest posts tend to have slower ROI but are much safer long-term.

PBNs still work, but only if done very carefully and quietly. Risk is higher now. For most people, quality guest posts and real links are safer long term.
