GSA SER still relevant this days?

GSA is the best still for the specific task that is made for and it works exclusively for such purpose (tiering). You only need to know how to link build correctly in 2026. If you are reading guides from 2023 or older, basically you are linkbuilding wrongly, it doesnt matter if you use GSA or if you pay half million bucks in any guestposting, PBN or whatever linkbuilding service you find out there.

nope, the best is and always was xrumer, nothing comes close in terms of automated link building, period. people just found it easier to use GSA, but xrumer is way more powerful. most think its just for forums and blogs, but it can target way more platforms than GSA and has much more advanced anti-anti spam tactics...

I find xrumer easier and less quality that GSA overall. Also the community is smaller. They were completely lost into oblivion for years, and made a little surge with "strongai" but still I don't think they got better than GSA. Maybe its a matter of tastes.
PS: The "AI features" thing is a joke.

many people don't really learn xrumer and complain its too hard, i also think its easy to use and it can hit targets GSA can't and with much more speed and accuracy.
xrumer is also developed much more advanced than GSA. it has many more features that GSA can't compete with. not talking about the new AI features btw...
it was around long before GSA and the community might be smaller, but more skilled overall. if you look for more activity, well the russian community is much more active, but i don't speak russian so i was also always only on the english forum and it has less activity thats true. i know the coder and hes a pretty nice guy with a high skill level in coding.
anyways i'd say GSA is more aimed at non technical users, but i also don't want to start a huge discussion now, just had to point it out as its a fact that xrumer is way more advanced than GSA.

The amount of spam my site gets from it shows that there are still a ton of users abusing the shit out of it.

Most people don’t rely on tools like that anymore; results today depend more on overall quality and long-term consistency than specific software. What works can vary, but many focus on safer, sustainable approaches now.

I tried using GSA SER as Tier-2 and Tier-3 to boost main backlinks, Found they are not that effective, even could not help index the main backlinks.
May be using good list of sites could help. Without the list, it's just a submission tool. That's my opinion.

GSA SER offers many features, but lags behind when it comes to actual automatic link building. XRumer is simply brutal and efficient for forum links, wikis and blog comments (and contact forms).
GSA SER is updated regularly, XRumer much less frequently.
You can find many videos and tutorials for GSA SER, but I question their usefulness. There are no videos with arm-waving chatterboxes for XRumer, and you have to search for tutorials or right-click to translate them from Russian.
The problem with GSA SER is the outdated engines. In addition, these are only for English-language sites. So you have to edit the engines yourself to achieve success. As mentioned at the beginning, XRumer is brutally efficient. With the same URL list, I can create 10,000 forum profiles in no time with XRumer, but only 50 at best with GSA SER.
The SERnuke engines have made GSA SER more attractive again. This allowed me to create around 600 relevant backlinks for a client in the real estate sector, most of them ******** and with the appropriate Trust Flow in the real estate sector.
With both tools, it all comes down to the footprints and the lists. Using GSA SER with the standard footprints is absolutely useless. Link lists are available for purchase for both tools, but that's money down the drain because the lists are a) rubbish and b) have to be carefully filtered for the respective target project. It's better to build your own lists.
@SirLouen: I don't see the AI feature as a joke at all. Quite the contrary. Here, too, it's important not to use the default settings, but to customise the AI prompts accordingly. Then it works wonderfully with relevant posts, question/answer profiles and blog comments. For GSA SER, I had to create my own API to post relevant blog comments using AI.

I’ve been having issues with questionable site lists claiming lots of contextuals in GSA. Most links are no follow. naturally I am avoiding microblogs, RSS, Indexers, image comment and Directories for tier one but it’s beginning to creak these days. It makes me wonder what class of links I can get away with building tier 1 without tanking the site on Penguin amd Panda. Never looked into Xrumer but worry it may spam the sites.

Agreed. They're slowly but surely building up the post count in order to later on sell the account or use it for The Marketplace. If you click on their profile you will see that they post 3-4 replies per day and that's it. This goes on for maybe 3-4 weeks and then they leave it there.
These guys also reply in same threads, if you click on one of their Replies, you'll notice many accounts like this without avatars replying with similar AI stuff, their Join date is also the same or +1 -1 day.

Yes,, GSA SER is still used, but it is much less effective than before and it can be risky for SEO.

a forum engine pack is on the drawing board, I think there was a community effort being talked about in the GSA forum to update existing forum engines but like every other such discussion over the past 10 years nobody has bothered doing anything :X

That would definitely be a big improvement for SER.
As for the community's efforts, I think the average user expects a complete package and ends up failing when trying to follow the tips in YouTube videos by self-proclaimed “GSA masters.”

GSA SER is still relevant for link building in 2026, but relying on outdated strategies won’t get you results anymore. You need a modern approach for it to actually work.
