I have been looking to make new friends but no one is willing to become a friend, what could be the reason?
is it because they are afraid of strangers these days ? [stranger = danger]
or is it because they have experienced something bad ?

Usually it’s not about you.
People are more guarded today, often due to limited time, past bad experiences, or already full social circles.
Friendships now form slowly through shared activities and repeated contact, not quickly with strangers.

agree with you but most of them are over protected or took it really in a bad way irrespective of gender eg:
if you contact a male/boy they start wondering why is he trying to contact me
if its girl/female they have multiple reasons
so its really hard to even go to the next step

people are more cautious these days past experiences, social anxiety, or just busy lives make it harder to open up. patience and small gestures usually help

Friendship happens naturally over a period of time. And after a certain age, people are either too busy or too apprehensive.
Don't worry, put yourself out there, you'll eventually meet someone who will match your vibe. Don't make friends just for the sake of it.

new friends can be difficult for many reasons, and it’s usually not personal. Some people are cautious with strangers due to safety concerns, past negative experiences, or trust issues.

I think is a combination between social anxiety, peoples being focused more on hustle even if they didn't make much money and the whole interest is to make more . If you want you can have friends but are you able to pay the price? Because friendships are investment on long term

I think an even bigger problem is to find yourself. Because when you’re more or less formed as a person, you will attract right people toward you. But that doesn’t mean it’s a quick process

It really just feels tougher these days because everyone's so swamped. Online chats just aren't the same as actually seeing people, and folks tend to close off after getting burned before. It's normal to feel that way.

1️⃣ Fear / caution
Many people naturally associate strangers with risk, especially online or in casual settings.
Society has become more cautious due to news, scams, or general safety awareness.
2️⃣ Past negative experiences
People who’ve been hurt, betrayed, or disappointed may be less open to new friendships.
They might keep their guard up, especially with someone they don’t know well.
3️⃣ Lifestyle & busyness
Some people are busy with work, family, or routines and don’t actively make new friends.
It’s not personal — they just have limited energy to invest.
4️⃣ Social skills / context
Making friends requires shared context or repeated interaction.
Approaching someone once and asking to be friends may feel abrupt; people respond better with gradual, natural connection.
Bottom line:
It’s not usually about you personally. People’s caution, experiences, and lifestyle often create a barrier. The best approach is consistent, low-pressure interaction, like joining groups, classes, or communities where friendships naturally develop over time.

Everyone is addicted to their phones. I miss the old days before phones.

Most people build friendship at an young age because young people like to build selfless connections with each other and demand nothing. Making friends as an adult is hard but not impossible. Adults are busy, many can't even talk to family members because they have no time. Best way to make friends as an adult is to join a social group with similar interests. For example, boat clubs, bikers, travel groups, book/literature clubs etc.

I have the same problem. Somehow everyone just thinks about themselves.

probably a mix of both tbh meeting people online feels way harder now spontap seems pretty interesting for this though
