No dont think so, AI is the foundation, not a trend.
Google and Bing have locked user attention onto themselves through AI answers. Zero-click searches (searches without clicking through to websites) are becoming more common.
It's possible and necessary to appear in these searches, to be cited and recognized. Yes, this doesn't always mean direct traffic to a website, but it's a powerful way to build brand recognition and touchpoints, so that people remember you when the right moment comes.

AI won’t replace SEO, but it will change how it’s done.
SEO will shift toward intent, content quality, brand trust, and human expertise rather than just keywords.

No, SEO isn’t going anywhere, it’s just evolving. Search engines are getting smarter, so shortcuts won’t last long. Content that actually helps users, plus a strong technical base, will matter more than ever.

SEO will evolve, not die. AI (like Google's SGE) will change the landscape, but the core principles will remain.
The threat isn't to SEO's existence, but to outdated tactics. AI will automate basic tasks (like simple keyword research), freeing SEOs to focus on strategy, high-quality content that AI can't replicate (experience, emotion, authority), and advanced technical optimization.
AI also makes user experience (E-E-A-T) even more critical. SEO will become more about optimizing for AI interpretation and ensuring content is selected as the best answer. The role will shift from purely technical to a more strategic hybrid of marketing, data science, and content creation.

And so it will be. Information queries have already migrated to AI chats. When AI chats integrate payment for goods without redirecting to the seller's website, the commercial search results will plummet.
Progress cannot be stopped; we can only keep up with it.
It must be honestly acknowledged that AI chats are more user-friendly than Google's traditional search results.

Its not so successful but still can be used for better traffic on websites

I think it's great that we're having this conversation, as it's clear that AI is going to significantly impact the SEO landscape. While it's reassuring to know that SEO will evolve rather than disappear, I'm curious to know how others are preparing for this shift. Are you focusing on developing more strategic and creative content, or are you exploring ways to leverage AI tools to enhance your technical optimization skills? It's also interesting to consider how AI chats might change the way we approach commercial search results, as mentioned earlier - do you think this will lead to new opportunities for SEOs to adapt and thrive?

AI can help, but i dont think AI can really create content as a human.

Building on the idea that AI chats will change commercial search results, I've seen a 25% drop in organic traffic to affiliate sites over the past 6 months as users increasingly turn to AI-powered shopping assistants. To counter this, I've started focusing on creating high-quality, AI-friendly content that can be easily integrated into these chat platforms, such as concise product summaries and comparison tables. By doing so, I've managed to maintain a steady stream of affiliate sales despite the decline in traditional search traffic. Additionally, I've found that optimizing for voice search and featured snippets has become more crucial than ever, as AI chats often rely on these formats to provide quick and accurate answers to users.

AI won’t replace SEO, but it is transforming how SEO works. The old methods are no longer enough. To stay competitive, we must adapt and integrate AI into our workflows. Those who fail to evolve with AI will struggle not only in SEO, but across most industries in the future.
