I'm sitting at my desk, making mistakes as I'm really good at that, and I hear a lawn tractor driving across my yard.

I look out the window and see my 80-year-old neighbor mowing our yard.

He was mowing his lawn and just cruised over here.

Acts of kindness make the world a better place.

That is really nice!

My neighbor has a swastika with an iron eagle on it hanging on his garage ::wackjob::

I think I'd put up a large fence between our properties if that was my neighbor.

Something along the lines of 16 feet high with barbed wire on top.

There is a fence. An old cow fence. We both have 25+ acres. Be an expensive fence lol

There’s also a bunch of pine trees between us.

I never talk to him I just see him coming and going once in a blue moon

Haha, absolute legend! Your neighbor just leveled up in the “Lawn Kindness” game. :D

Mine is a woman in her 60s who's from the southern part of India.

She's barely able to converse in English or Hindi. So we don't have a lot to talk about.

But she makes this delicious Idli Sambhar (a dish from Southern India - Idli being savoury steamed rice cakes and Sambhar is a delicious lentil soup with special spices, pumpkins, onion, tomatoes and moringa)

We have a culture of not returning empty vessels. So if you give me something you made in plates/bowls/containers from your house. I am not sending them back empty. I'll keep them till I make something special at home and then give that to you in the same plate.

About a decade ago when Facebook was all the rage, she once returned our plates with Idli Sambhar in it. And I was so impressed I wrote on Facebook about how my neighbour makes the best Idlis in the world.

Her son saw it and shared it with her. Needless to say, she was elated.

And it's been a decade and I STILL have Idli Sambhar for breakfast at least twice a month.

She has figured out when I leave for work and what my routine is and right at breakfast time, there's a knock on the door. And there she is with freshly made, piping hot Idli and Sambhar and coconut chutney.

Over the years, it's grown to more things. Everytime she makes something that's not a part of their everyday diet, she ensures she sets aside a portion for me.

And it's the same at my house now, anytime we make something good we make enough to send some for their family.

It's one of my most cherished things in life.

We should always be good, so I had a fight with my friend and I'm sitting there sadly.

Respect, most people half his age are too lazy to help even if perfectly able. Like the muscle guy who cant be bothered to return his shopping cart to the return 20 steps away! And you deserved the nice gesture, you cant even get a day off lately because of misbehavior!

Having a good neighbor is a blessing from God. You are blessed indeed
He's a great guy, and when his brother was still with us, he was as well.

When I bought this house, I had to put up fences as we had dogs at the time, and they had a dog, and I put a gate on the side that adjoins their property so their dog could come and visit.

Their pup is no longer with us, but we still refer to that gate as the <Their dog's name> gate.

My neighbour just got married a couple of weeks ago and she has moved from here.

She is such a lovely lady and I didn’t really think I would miss seeing her around until she actually left

Not like we even talked that much while she was still around since she’s a 9 to 5 worker and we only bumped into each other on weekends. We would have chit chat and catch up a bit

I kinda miss that now : D

Nobody knows what they have until they lose it, that's a damn great truth.
I have lost so many things in so many different ways, that now I am able to appreciate the ground my feet touch when I walk.

Having a good neighbor, a good friend, someone you can count on, someone you can talk to, what a great feeling, brother!

You were the only person who believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself.
Hey there! I also believe in you.

That sounds like such a good life, a stable and calm life. Old school

This is very common in India. More common when I was a child. You made me remember old days. Those were days when world was much more kind place.
