I’m pretty new to Facebook Ads, and this is my first time running serious campaigns during Black Friday. I’ve noticed my CPCs went way up this week — almost double compared to what I was paying before.

I’m guessing it’s because so many advertisers are competing right now, but I’m wondering if there are any practical strategies to keep the ROI decent when CPC spikes like this.

So far, I’ve tried:
  • Testing different ad creatives (slightly adjust CTA button and text)
  • Narrowing my audience to warmer users
  • Running ads during off-peak hours
I also manage a few different ad accounts (with proper tools to avoid linking them together), which helps me test different approaches safely. But still, the performance varies a lot.

What do you guys usually do during high-competition seasons like Black Friday?
Do you pause campaigns until CPMs drop, or just scale through it with better offers and landing pages?

Any beginner-friendly advice would be super appreciated!

Black Friday = auction chaos. CPCs spike since everyone’s command harder. Don’t silence — pivot. Focus on:

ROAS over CPC: Higher CPC is fine if conversion rate + AOV rise.
Tighten targeting: Retarget engaged users, email lists, & site visitors.
Front-load budget early: Costs soar right before BFCM weekend.
Creative refresh every 2–3 days: Fatigue hits faster now.
Test offers, not just ads: Bigger perceived value beats ad tweaks.

I’d stick with scaling carefully, but definitely tweak your offers and landing pages to make them irresistible—sometimes a better deal or urgency can make all the difference when CPCs rise!

During Black Friday, CPCs often spike because of intense competition. To keep your ROI steady, work on improving your ad creatives, strengthening your offers, and optimizing your landing pages. Focus on retargeting warm audiences, and instead of pausing campaigns, try adjusting your budget and running ads during off peak hours.

Yes I agree! Tighten targeting and Front-load budget early are workable for us now. We already increased the budget for multiple ad accounts/campaigns testing in Q3.
