Are engagement groups still effective?

Yes, but you have to make sure you are getting users who dont have botted followers when they comment on your post since the algorithm can detect if engagement group users have botted followers, and it can limit the reach of the post. Look into some threads on engagement groups, and you will see what I mean by that.

Still some value if you pick tight, real pods but reach & engagement drops lately make it less reliable than before. Better mix pods with quality content & consistent posting

I wouldn't rely on that. It's like paying microworkers to like your posts. Their accounts have a solid history of suspicious behavior, liking hundreds or thousands of random posts accessed through direct links, commenting in different languages, following completely unrelated accounts from different countries, languages and niches...I wouldn't be surprised if those accounts are flagged by the algo

I also feel they are no longer as effective as before. Recently, I've tried using groups to increase connections, but the engagement rate has been very low.
