Facebook turning into TikTok?

Yes, Meta’s heavily prioritizing Reels to compete with TikTok, so the algorithm now boosts short-form discovery over friend content; only consistent engagement with certain profiles keeps them visible.

My feed is flooded with random Reels from pages I’ve never followed.
Even my own friends’ posts barely show up anymore.
Is anyone else seeing this massive shift, or is Meta just forcing everyone into short video mode?
Facebook's algorithm will change from time to time.
Maybe at present, Facebook's algorithm prioritizes displaying short videos (similar to TikTok). And this will not last long because Facebook always changes its algorithm to suit users and increase the experience.
It is also possible that short videos are favored by Facebook users, so they increase their visibility, or because that Facebook account watches a lot of videos. When Facebook users click on photos, posts, or videos containing certain content, Facebook will prioritize displaying similar content.

Facebook's algorithm will change from time to time. Perhaps short videos are popular with Facebook users so they increase in visibility or because that Facebook account watches many videos.

It is because of your behavior that FB will recommend videos that match your behavior on the platform

The feed favors short videos and suggested content over friends posts its all part of their tiktok style shift.

Yeah, same here! My feed’s full of random Reels too — barely see posts from friends anymore. Looks like Meta’s really pushing short videos hard.

No, I don't think so. Users no longer prefer long videos. They want to watch shorter videos, so Facebook is turning into this.

Feels like we re being nudged into reels no matter what hard to see anything else unless you actively search for it.

Yes they turn more and more into TikTok and try also to reach the younger generation since FB is more dominated by the older generation

Yes, this is a general trend — Meta is prioritizing Reels and AI-based content over posts from friends, similar to how TikTok works.
Facebook’s new algorithm focuses on keeping users engaged with short videos, so posts from friends and pages you follow will appear less often unless you interact regularly.

Although we have shifted to adding more short video content, you can re-prioritize your friends if you want, just diligently review their videos and information and that content will be back on the recommendation list within a few days.

Not for me . I still see good amount of text posts.

Facebook is mostly bots now, worse than X. Only a handful of boomers still use it first world countries.
Yes, Facebook’s feed is mostly bots now, and real people are barely showing up

I know they launched that creator-monetizaton recently, so they are probably still working on how to attract more to this program or even incentivise the actual ones to do more.

For short video mode, they have instagram
t think so

It's not just you; Meta has been putting more random Reels in everyone's feed lately. What I think you should do? Start interacting more with the kinds of things you really want to see. You can like, save, or comment on content from friends and pages you follow. The algorithm will slowly adjust itself and show you less noise and more of what you care about.
I will try it

Meta is clearly chasing the TikTok model short
I’ve noticed the same thing too Instagram’s feed is packed with random Reels lately. It looks like Meta is really pushing short videos hard, which means regular posts from friends don’t show up as much anymore.
Feels like they’re trying to compete more with TikTok than keep the old friends and photos vibe

That's right. Facebook's algorithm will now push Reel and video content like Tiktok. As long as anyone can see your post and stay on it for more than 3 seconds, the algorithm will consider this post to be more viral. Now, even if the number of followers is large but the target audience is not right, the post will flop as usual.
Yes, Engagement and watch time seem to matter more than follower count

as i see it, meta is now prioritizing short videos and suggested content from pages you don't follow yet. so the new recognition level is high, so users can see interesting videos, and then follow suggested pages.

maybe it's a trend, before people preferred and were interested in short videos from tiktok so the current platforms seem to be the same
