My feed is flooded with random Reels from pages I’ve never followed.
Even my own friends’ posts barely show up anymore.
Is anyone else seeing this massive shift, or is Meta just forcing everyone into short video mode?

Facebook is mostly bots now, worse than X. Only a handful of boomers still use it first world countries.

I know they launched that creator-monetizaton recently, so they are probably still working on how to attract more to this program or even incentivise the actual ones to do more.

For short video mode, they have instagram

It's not just you; Meta has been putting more random Reels in everyone's feed lately. What I think you should do? Start interacting more with the kinds of things you really want to see. You can like, save, or comment on content from friends and pages you follow. The algorithm will slowly adjust itself and show you less noise and more of what you care about.

I’ve noticed the same thing too Instagram’s feed is packed with random Reels lately. It looks like Meta is really pushing short videos hard, which means regular posts from friends don’t show up as much anymore.
Feels like they’re trying to compete more with TikTok than keep the old friends and photos vibe

That's right. Facebook's algorithm will now push Reel and video content like Tiktok. As long as anyone can see your post and stay on it for more than 3 seconds, the algorithm will consider this post to be more viral. Now, even if the number of followers is large but the target audience is not right, the post will flop as usual.

“Facebook feed is now full of reels! Friends' posts are rarely seen like before. It seems Meta is slowly making the entire platform short video-based.”

Yeah, it's so frustrating! Feels like they’re just pushing Reels nonstop, even if you don’t want them. Totally seems like they’re trying to copy TikTok.

Well, I always thought that "they only show you what you like," but in reality, they show you what keeps you on the app the longest, even if the content is garbage. If you stop for a couple of seconds, that counts as "interest." That's why feeds are filled with random Reels. The only thing that helped me was using the app less and avoiding interacting with content I didn't want to reinforce.

Yep, seeing the same, feed in mostly Reels now, even from random pages. Feels like it's pushing short-form hard and deprioritizing regular posts. If you're not doing reels, you're basically invisible.

Short videos are the trend at the moment. Not only FB but Youtube also continuously displays short videos. It must be admitted that short videos have the ability to reach users quickly and easily.

It seems like Facebook is losing its original nature. Now what is considered to be developing is actually running on other platforms.

Yes, many people have noticed that too — Facebook seems to be prioritizing Reels more aggressively, similar to TikTok’s short-form focus. It’s likely Meta’s way of keeping users engaged and competing in the short-video space.

Now surfing the news only sees short trending videos, sponsored ads, when you follow a topic or re-watch a video, your homepage will receive suggestions about that topic, this is the new operating algorithm of FB in particular and Meta in general.

Yeah, Meta’s feed is messy lately
Like, save, and comment on what you enjoy — it’ll get better soon.

Yes, this is Meta's clear strategy: to push Reels to compete with TikTok and YouTube Shorts. The algorithm now prioritizes short videos from any source with high retention rates over posts from friends.

Well, yeah. Meta has openly shifted Facebook’s feed from mostly showing content from your friends/pages you follow, toward a recommendation-engine-based stream of Reels and posts from creators you don’t follow.
They’re also re-classifying all video uploads as "Reels" and boosting short-form video formats to compete with TikTok.

Meta’s new algorithm is now heavily weighting short videos to increase user engagement and compete with other platforms. News Feed now reflects real-time personalization: your scrolling will primarily see trending videos and ads, and any interactions will immediately trigger topics publishing similar content on your home page.

that's why i stopped with insta feed. 80% people i have never heard about. only watch reals now, never feed

I’ve noticed that too. Instagram’s feed is now filled with random Reels instead of posts from friends. It seems Meta is prioritizing short-form video to compete with TikTok, shifting away from the traditional photo-sharing feel the platform used to have.
