Hey all,

So OpenAI just launched its new AI-powered browser Atlas, and there’s a lot of chatter about whether it might actually replace Google Chrome.

I read online that Alphabet Inc. saw its market valuation drop by nearly $100 billion on Tuesday after OpenAI unveiled its first AI-powered web browser.

What do you all think? Are we expecting everyone will switch from Chrome to Atlas in a few years?

I think it might just happen. it will be funny when/if it does! I can't wait to checkout my first atlas visitor from my analytics now! lol

haha! exactly if we start seeing atlas visitors show up in analytics, it’ll be a clear sign that people are actually switching. And it's going to be "the Dawn of new SEO era" lol

I don't think it'll completely replace Google, but it'll take a chunk. It already has some users at the moment, the more it positions itself as a browser and search engine, the more those users would rely on it completely.

But this AI, so it's bound to get some things wrong. How much it gets wrong would determine how much it'll be trusted to replace Google.

The future is truly pregnant, we shall see what it'll birth.

Still early to predict while this is still not avilable for windows/android yet

Too early to say for sure. It'll see some traction, sure, but becoming a replacement is a bridge too far.
Hype moves faster than people switch browsers I'd say, so even if it becomes a contender, I highly doubt it would replace Chrome of all browsers anytime soon. However shite Chrome tends to be, it's ubiquitous as it were.

Well I would say Google’s is entrenched in dominance.
Google’s search engine, Chrome browser, advertising ecosystem, and web index are huge and deeply embedded. Changing that takes time and effort.

Yeah! Just awaiting to see what comes next, Who knows Google might come up with a better things to take this down.
Once they at least release this shit for Windows, we can start dreaming about something
Haha!! maybe sooner we can expect. If people start adopting to it.

But still we all already preferring ChatGPT for certain tasks, So we can make assumption that it's gonna be big.

"becoming a replacement is a bridge too far" but not anymore. These days, technology evolves and changes in just a matter of days.

Yeah let's see, as @HenryObi said. The future is pregnant, we shall see what it'll birth.

Good question !

Arrival of OpenAI is new era . who know it may be replace the chrome in future !!!!

Coz, once upon a time chrome also at the same position like Atlas right. So ,we have to wait to see the upcoming activates and trends.

Havn't you guys seen the horror flick of the 80's "The Gate"? lol

They unleash a gateway to hell, where demons come.

We can only "Pray its not too late" lol

No! But it’s a big step. Atlas might not replace Google overnight, but it’s changing how people think about browsers.

Yeahh! good point, Maybe it's just a beginning

Yeah, I think people now prefer getting answers in just one click, the days of browsing for them are pretty much over. Unless Google steps up with a strong counter, We will see a big change.

Atlas may disrupt the browser landscape with its AI features, but Chrome isn’t going away anytime soon. Widespread adoption will hinge on performance, privacy, and how well it fits into users’ daily habits.

Its seems only available for mac users.
No never, if something happened, Google we launch new browser or something better than atlas, Like Gemini.

True enough that tech evolves fast, so fast that what you think could replace Chrome now could be made obsolete by a newer entirely different browser in the future. Speculation is good and all but it remains to be seen.

Yeah! but as of now we are seeing atlas has a potential of shake things up

Yeahhh, we’re just making guesses here, anything could happen in the future. If things actually turn out the way we predicted, we can totally flex about it with our folks. lol

Slowly and steadily A.I. Atlas is going to take more ground from google, so yes in a few years I believe that most of the people online are going to switch to Atlas.

I don't think because perplexity also launched comet AI and there is not much impact of it on ground level. Had you ever used comet AI? If no, it's unfair to make prediction that ATLAS takeover google

It uses Google Chromium, so no - since it's entirely dependent on the underlying open source browser engine that Google manages.

Atlas was an embarrasment frankly. It's just a sladpdash job by OpenAI to seem competitive with Perplexity's comet - which is better in every way so far.
