Best Free Website Builders for Affiliate Blogs (WordPress.com is too clunky!)

Hey folks, new to the forum — I’m trying to build a niche blog so I can qualify for Amazon’s affiliate program. From what I read, you must have your own website (not just links) to even apply.


I tried WordPress.com’s free website builder, but honestly, their editor feels really counterintuitive and hard to use.


So I’m asking: what’s a better free website builder with an easy-to-understand interface and solid SEO capabilities? Preferably one that’s affiliate-friendly.


Things I’m looking for:

• Drag-and-drop or intuitive editor
• Ability to add blog posts, pages, and maybe some widgets
• Ability to use a custom domain later if I upgrade
• Good SEO fundamentals (meta titles, headings, clean URLs)
• Affiliate-friendly (allows inserting links, images, etc.)

If anyone here has done Amazon affiliate successfully, where did you build your first site? Thanks in advance!

You can try wix, but I really recommend you to buy your own hosting and domain.

Where do you recommend to do it? Is it really necessary at my stage where I'm just trying to learn? Not looking for big profits at the moment, just trying to understand this whole thing.

Try wordpress.org the real wordpress but you have to buy a domain and a good hosting. The affiliate customization is pretty much what ever you want.
Wordpress.com is not wordpress.org its a hosting company and a very expansive one. You are using their free plan that had very limited features.

Another options that you have weebly and if you are a bit technical GitHub Pages can be a great option (You can generate the HTML with chatgpt or claude).

All cheap hosting sucks. You will end blaming them or wordpress for slow site.
I use siteground, ionos (1 site only), hostarmada, fastcomet
There is a trick I found to get ionos 1 site hosting for 7 dollars.
1) search for hosting deals for ionos it's 12$ for 1st year
2) search for 5$ coupon for ionos. Ionos give 5$ for signing up for their newsletter.
3) buy ionos hosting for 12$ and at the checkout apply the coupon or it may auto apply if you use the same email. You will see only 7$ for 1st year.
.com domain and premium hosting for 1 year for :
2.90 + 7= 9.90$
It can't get cheaper than that.

If you found that Wordpress.com is hard to use, then maybe Wix is a good choice for you. (or blogger? I don't know if people still use blogger, but it's easy to use) but honestly, If I were you, I wouldn't try these website builders for affiliate. The best choice will stay WordPress.org and host the website yourself, and with this you're gonna gain experience with time, and you'll be the webmaster of your own website. There are also many plugins that will help you a lot.

I'm in the same boat with you (I don't like WP anymore, and their garbage editor... as well as the blocks design, extremely inflated prices on every WP-related product, the constant and eternal updates, etc are all contributing to this), so 1 month ago I created a thread for the exact same thing as you...

I was about to mention a few alternatives that I received from helpful forum members, but instead of searching through that thread I'll let you find them yourself, hopefully you won't mind

But from that thread, my winning option (if you're not fussy about it / demanding with your site's requirements) is Bludit (although Publii looks good too)... But anyway, check that thread out and see which option you like more...

Here is my first website created with wordpress.org (https://autocommenter.org/)

I used ionos for just 5 usd per month for domain and hosting (domain was free)
autocommenter.org - come check it out!

I even got first interested leads already for this, someone's looking to buy my neurocommenting.

They found it using google search, so I think it works pretty well.

Just don't forget to switch to https as soon as you create your website, don't make my mistake. haha

Wix or weebly are good alternatives and they have drag and drop editors.
