Hello Noona.
Which strategy do you find more effective when running CBO or ABO when testing new products?
What budget do people usually start testing with for an ad set?
When should you scale by increasing your budget and when should you double down on your ad set?
Let's discuss ;)

Start with ABO for fair testing across ad sets, then switch to CBO once you have a proven winner. $100+ in US/EU. Scale by raising budget 20–30% every few days if stable, or duplicate ad sets to explore new audiences/creatives.

When testing a new product, use ABO so each ad set has its own budget and enough data; once you find a winner, switch to CBO to scale. Typical test budgets are $20–$50/ad set/day (VN) or $100+ (US/EU). For scaling, increase the budget by 20–30% every 2–3 days if performance is stable, or duplicate the ad set to quickly test more audiences/creatives

What is your target audience, can you give me a reference?

When testing new products, many advertisers prefer starting with ABO because it gives more control over how budget is distributed across ad sets. Once you identify a winning audience or creative, you can then shift to CBO to let the algorithm optimize spend more efficiently at scale.

For testing most prefer ABO with small budgets per ad set to see what works. Once you find a winning product or audience move to CBO for scaling.

Scale gradually either by raising the budget 20 to 30 percent every few days or by duplicating ad sets that perform well.

- ABO - good for testing; CHO is good for scaling/when there are few good variations
- Suggested starting budget: depends on your market. for low cost markets like India/Vietnam, $5-15 a day, if it is a medium market like CA/US/UK, $20-50 a day
initial ad set quantity: 3-8 sets (each set uses 2-4 creatives)
- when the goal is to expand reach immediately
avoid duplicating too much leading to cannibalization

ABO for testing, CBO for scaling. Budget testing depends on the market, but I usually keep it enough to cover a few conversions/day. Scale up slowly, don't double the budget at once, it's easy to break.

Many advertisers choose ABO to control budgets while testing new products, and once they identify effective audiences or creatives, they turn to CBO to optimize spend and scale campaigns.

When testing new products, use ABO to have full control over your budget, ensuring each ad set has enough data to learn from. When you find a campaign that works, increase your budget gradually or switch to CBO to scale more effectively. This is a process of continuous experimentation, not a set formula.

I often test new products with A+ campaign. For example, if I make a profit of $18 per order, I will control the advertising cost within the range of $10-15/order. And I will go to A+ campaign 1-1-10. On condition that the pixel I use to run has data.

I usually test new products with ABO for more control. Most start with $10 per ad set. I scale when an ad set performs well and double down if CTR are strong.

I usually start with ABO when testing new products. I prefer CBO if I want FB to optimize automatically across ad sets, but ABO works better when I need more control. I usually increase budget gradually for well-performing ad sets, and double down only when the audience is responding really well

Scale when you see consistent ROAS, stable CTR, and low CPA over 2–3 days
You can scale gradually by 20–30% daily, or duplicate winning ad sets into a new campaign with a higher budget.

A specific audience or creative consistently outperforms others. You see strong signals early (e.g. sales within first $10–15 spent).

Both work depending on the product,
CBO can optimize performance automatically and quickly.
ABO may be suitable for more control and want to test each ad set in detail

for fresh tests stick abo, let each adset show its hand. cbo better after u know what converts. budget wise, $15–25 per adset common entry. scale when metrics repeat stable, not off one fluke. bump 20–30% at a time, never blind double unless profit margin thick.
