No matter how many times I explain to my father how EASY it is to get information via Google or, shit, ANY search engine... he still just doesn't get it!

He never takes that next step... where he's in a situation he can't figure out, to actually search for an answer to his problem. He just calls me or sends me an email. 9 times out of 10 his question would be answered in the #1 spot.

Do your parents know how to Google?

lol see that's what i'm tired of!

Its so frustrating trying to teach your parents anything about technology, you tell them something so simple and they dont get it. I get so annoyed with them but its like them teaching us about something we havent ever used in our lifetimes.

I now exactly what you mean. I think it's the defeatist attitude. They've grown up with out this type of technology, and see young people using it. So, they'll assume they can't learn it so they dedicate the searching to the youngsters...

I'll never even attempt to teach my parents how to use a computer. Just because I'll waste my breathe!

BTW, You can teach old dogs new tricks ... Mythbusters proved it!

I'll teach them something and they will do it and pretend they cant do it a few days later because they are too lazy to try and remember because they know i will do it for them.

Maybe it's payback for the upbringing they provided you. I know at my age if I can get my son to do something for me he shouldn't bitch. The kid needs only to remember all the things I did for him.

Besides all that I taught him to use computers. :)

you mean I'm not that only one! I know they're very intelligent and very analytical. They figured out how to cope with me (and that's not the easiest thing in the world). What they haven't figured out is how to deal with a ridiculous technological block - I know they're thinking if you type the wrong key on the computer it blows up. Go figure.

If you thought google was bad, I advise you not to let them within 20 feet of a cell phone!
