Greetings to you all. I'm new here though I've been exploring this forum for a few days now. I'm very new to internet marketing. At 30 I have no tangible skill, spent years working a 9 - 5 job for a monthly pay of $45. I had to quit that job last month, sold the last property I had left. The proceeds from the sale could carry me from now to at least December 2026.

I want to focus on learning a money making online skill that can profit me from now till then. I'm already taking a cyber security course I'm at an intermediate level in Python, Linux, and computer networking, I don't want to put all my eggs on 1 basket. So I'm here to source for opinions and recommendations on best online money niche and skills I need to focus on learning. Thank you all for your anticipated response.

I'm in a similar situation as yours but a much shorter lifeline. I have 1 month to either get a job or make some money somehow.

It seems like job market is hell and recruiters are ghosting me. I read that some companies are posting open jobs just to show off that they are expanding and aren't really hiring.

Sales. But not selling any old affiliate offer - selling things that people actually want and buy. You could sell items on online marketplaces that you’ve bought physically.

If you haven’t got enough capital for that, then I’d suggest mowing lawns or another in demand service in your area if you want the cash flow. I believe there are apps and sites to take bookings online. Not digital businesses per se but options to make ends meet, plus the money of such businesses isn’t that bad either.

Cyber security is good, if you’re good at it. From what I’ve heard, there’s many entry level applicants but the real demand is for the pros. So become a pro (if you’re good with cyber security) as quickly as possible - faster than the majority. Then you will have no problem getting good positions with ease.

Flipping real items stands the test of time for making quick cash if u pick the right thing to buy. Expensive or branded items for example. Theres always some rich people who just wanna get rid of stuff on ebay or fb marketplace. Lowball everyone selling an iphone or something and you will get some good deals —> buy then sell for higher. If youre low on budget then hardware pieces like ram are easy and good.

Maybe you could try setting up a GoFundMe and explain your situation? I don’t know, I’ve been in your position too, with absolutely nothing to my name. But I got really really lucky back then and managed to get out of it.

Thank you all for your responses. I'm a third world resident Nigeria to be precise. And the prevalent practice here is internet fraud, which I have promised myself never to indulge in. I'm not after get rich quick schemes I just want to learn a tested, proven, and reliable online marketing skill. I've seen people doing fraud affiliates sports betting, but I find it too risky for my liking. Thank you all, and keep the response coming please.

Focus on one money skill first, otherwise you’ll spread yourself too thin and lose your runway

Monthly payment of $45. What job was this ?
Yes monthly payment $45
I worked as a personal manager to a business man. My job was to take his business & personal records, and inventories.
I think they mean hourly because I’m trying to wrap my head around that as well
Hourly? Then I will be the happiest man on earth. As unbelievable as it sounds, that was my monthly payment for over 5 years. I know people who earn less. Life can be very unfair.

My advice would be something like this:
- Start with what you already know (forget completely about whether a niche has good money or not. All niches have good money if you know how to work them), and learn things that are related to what you know (python, linux, networking).
- Learn other fields slightly just to get an idea about them.
- And then, focus entirely on 1 thing for at least 6-12 months (entirely means 100%, do not jump from niche to other niche, it would be a big mistake)

Wishing you the best, and a good luck in your journey.
It's time to be your own boss now.

From what country are you is seem like you don't need such big numbers to can live comfortably there? I will recommend freelance services for beginning knowing you may live even with 100$/month since you was paid only 45$ before so this will be the fastest way

Selling and reselling things that people need. All you need is a bit of research and identify people's needs. You don't even have to manufacture your own products. Just identify, source, market and sell. Physical or digital, take your pick.

I think freelancing is a good starting point.

Just getting 3-10$/hr will be amazing for you. Which many people are happy to pay if you do a good job and are reliable.
To get work is though, I get most my work to people I meet so its hard to replicate, but I have also had sucess on Upwork. (Check out the Fastlane Forum, there is a good guide (a few years old) on how to start on Upwork)
Also you could try other methods of getting work, via just applying for forgein jobs or going to conferrences.

Also instead of focusing on to many things, focus on one and go really deep on that.

Stay Hard.

Unless you develop skills that can be hired, there is no hope :(
Something that can be sold is an unavoidable truth.

Don't play for high risk when there are strategies you can try free of charge. A lot of what you will find here and online are free and can get you even $100 a week with just some consistency.

You figured out anything as yet?

Freelancing is the fastest way — start small with your Python/Linux skills and build from there.

Welcome! You're in a crucial stage, and it’s great that you're approaching it with seriousness and intention. Quitting a low-paying job, selling your asset, and committing to learning and building online income is bold but it can absolutely pay off, if you stay focused and strategic.
