$6k on or before December 2026, else no life

Greetings to you all. I'm new here though I've been exploring this forum for a few days now. I'm very new to internet marketing. At 30 I have no tangible skill, spent years working a 9 - 5 job for a monthly pay of $45. I had to quit that job last month, sold the last property I had left. The proceeds from the sale could carry me from now to at least December 2026.

I want to focus on learning a money making online skill that can profit me from now till then. I'm already taking a cyber security course I'm at an intermediate level in Python, Linux, and computer networking, I don't want to put all my eggs on 1 basket. So I'm here to source for opinions and recommendations on best online money niche and skills I need to focus on learning. Thank you all for your anticipated response.
Respect for making the leap. With your Python + Linux base, you can go two ways:

  1. Freelance side — automation scripts, data scraping, simple tools (Fiverr/Upwork).
  2. Long-term — cybersec gigs (pentesting, bug bounties).
If you want faster cashflow, pick a service model (SEO, content, backlinks, ads mgmt) and sell it while you keep leveling up in cybersec. The key is don’t spread too thin — pick one skill to monetize within 3–6 months, then stack others later

I say start with the skills you do have - coding, Linux admin, etc.

Maybe post on fiverr that you can do coding, checking code, Linux admin, setting up Linux etc.

You could post on other freelancer sites as well.

It’s better to lean on whatever skills you do have and then improve them, rather than starting something brand new.

And give yourself some motivation and accountability - you have roughly 65 weeks, so you need to earn $92 per week or $13 per day.

You can probably undercut the competition by 25 - 50% whilst you build up your customer base and improve your skills and you can still bring in enough to hit your targets if you focus and work hard every day.
