My 2890 Karma Reddit Account that Generated 3K$ got SHADOWBANNED

- Yes, I posted direct affiliate links (which was a mistake, considering I could have posted blog links)
- Yes, I had affiliate links in my subreddits too (could've add a website with link in bio template)
- yes, I warmed it up months before and in general

But here's where the weird stuff starts...

The shadowban happened after I was a bit inactive for a few months and I was also temporarily banned for no reason from a casual subreddit in my home country just because I commented "Bangkok" under a post asking where we'd like to live... very strange, maybe it was the automatic moderator.

A few months before that I was banned from a subreddit for medical students in my country - just for saying that many universities there are corrupt and that some medical students give money to professors to pass exams.

Last year - a user attacked me because I had a direct affiliate link in a post that was visible because I wasn't careful in placing it. He mentioned the moderator so I had to delete it.

THIS USER HAD A WHOLE SUBREDDIT WITH AFFILIATED LINKS OF EXACTLY THE SAME PRODUCT , while promoting other products and I guess that's why they got upset. Another reason could be that I created a subreddit for a software tool I was affiliated with and I wonder if the founder found out ( he is on Reddit) and decided to report it?... but I don't think so, he would have not pay me then?

Anyways, I wonder if only the affiliate links caused this, or if someone not aligned with my political views ( I commented a lot about politics) got mad, or if it's a mix of both.

Can I delete all the affiliate comments and then file an appeal?
What would you do in my case?
Btw, I created a new reddit account on an old device. But it's not an anonymous one, it's connectes to my brand and I won't do the same mistakes )

You can try deleting old affiliate posts/comments and appeal but Reddit is slow and pretty much unresponsive with shadowbans. You’re better off treating that acc as burned and focusing on a new account.

i personally hate reddit, they don't answer appeals and ban for no particular reason or without mentioning the reason

sounds like the affiliate links probably did it. Politics might’ve made it worse. Appeals don’t usually work, best to just move on and keep the new account clean

Shadowbans are often permanent, especially if tied to affiliate spam patterns Deleting links rarely helps better to start fresh, avoid direct links, and funnel through value driven content first

You can try, but I don't think Reddit will recover this account for you. Next time try to avoid inactivity, at least twice a week post some comments and keep your account active

Most likely the algorithm knows that spammers warming up accounts with random questions

it seems you fell into the trap like many who got banned, getting into argument with other sub members and they probably reported you out of retaliation, or you were brigaded. best not to go intoa sub and ask controversial statements like anything political, calling whatever thing as corrupt is a political statement, people often see that as abeing a troll or an attack.

that is true, on the shadowban sub, they ignore most of the appeals(the posters complained about it), especially since thier AI is doing the auto-banning, they are less likely to look at it. also they will ignore it if you have multiple accounts shadowbanned(including trying to ban evade) they only consider the original account that triggered all the new bans.

Some Mods have direct access to admins on "speed dial" the large subs like ask reddit i believe they have mods like that, as are news, Politics

Google, reddit, IG, etc. all platforms follow it. Once an account receives penalty, ban, or shadow ban, the reach will be less and any reports will be taken seriously.

The moderation wouldn't be severe within your own sub. The reach might be low. It's better if you don't create any subs after bans.
