Content age is becoming a bigger ranking factor

I'd agree with this, goes in the same hand as domain age.
I've seen truly awful pages that are as several year old gain a strong ranking, but newer, high quality pages floundering on page 2 and 3.

This is something that needs to be addressed in the next update, as it's clear that it's not aligning with the quality rated guidelines

They have leaned on age for the longest time. I can see their point to an extent; older content has stood the test of time (in general) but there's a lot of old shit out there and because it's on a site that's established, they just assume the content is ok.

Some of my best performing pages are 12+ months old barely touched, but they have built authority slowly. New content still works, but aged, steady posts are consistently climbing. Freshness is great, but age with trust seems to win in the long game. What are you thoughts mate ?

It is obvious that Google will prefer old sites for ranking. This is because a new website has not established trust. There is high chance that it can be spam .

I’ve noticed the same thing on my sites — some older posts that I barely touched are slowly climbing in traffic because they’ve built trust over time. New content works too, but there’s something about aged pages with authority that just keeps winning in the long run. Patience really pays off!

Yes Old content that’s built authority over time often outranks newer posts, even if the new ones are optimized well. Consistency and trust really pay off in the long run.

Yeah, I'm seeing the same thing. Older pages with steady updates keep growing slowly but strongly. Fresh posts can pop, but aged content with trust seems to win long-term. Google really likes stability now.
