Yes,I agree, new posts can do well, but older pages that build trust and authority over time usually end up winning.

From experience, it really depends on both the content niche and it's structure;
Overall i would say it's a balancing of both: fresh gives you a quick boost, old content can provide a steady of long term traffic as these hold rankings better.

Think about what you need, do some research on your website niche, and i wish you all good luck

Okay. I’ve seen older content maintain its rankings through multiple updates, especially when it’s gained good backlinks and engagement over time. I usually do light touch-ups—fix links, change meta, maybe refresh status—but never overhaul unless the SERP intent has changed. Stability seems to be the real asset.

Yes, I've seen it happen. Light updates usually get noticed faster, probably because Google only has to crawl and process a few changes instead of re-evaluating the entire page. A complete rewrite feels like releasing something new, so it takes longer for the effects to settle.

If a site is few years old, it is enough proof for Google that the webmaster is not a spammer.

Websites with content on them for last few years is a big advantage. Those who are not serious about blogging, abandon the blogs in few months itself.

That is the way how google is fighting with increasing spam on web. They have even stopped indexing new blogs to major extent.

I'd agree with this, goes in the same hand as domain age.
I've seen truly awful pages that are as several year old gain a strong ranking, but newer, high quality pages floundering on page 2 and 3.

This is something that needs to be addressed in the next update, as it's clear that it's not aligning with the quality rated guidelines
