I’ve been doing FB/Google for years, but I keep hearing mixed things about Taboola/Outbrain lately. Some say it’s dead unless you’ve got an insane budget, others claim you can still carve out niches with good creatives.
Is native still a thing for small to mid-budget campaigns, or should I just skip and keep hammering social/search?

Native isn’t dead
it just needs a sharper approach now. For small to mid budgets, Taboola/Outbrain can still work if:

Your creatives are scroll-stopping and match the platform vibeYou target niche audiences with high intentYou optimize landing pages heavily for engagement/conversionYou test aggressively and cut weak placements fast

Start small, scale what works. It’s not as easy as FB/Google, but it can be less competitive in the right niche.

Native can still work on a small budget if your creatives are strong, but social/search usually gives faster results for ecom.

Still worth testing if your product has broad appeal and strong creatives just start small and scale what works.

Native ads aren’t dead, but they demand sharper creatives and tighter targeting than before for smaller budgets.

If you’ve got good creatives and patience, native can still carve out wins, but it’s not a quick slam dunk like FB/Google.

Native’s tricky now—worth testing on a small scale, but don’t bet your whole budget on it.

For small-mid budgets, native is more of a niche play; keep your main firepower on social/search.

Taboola/Outbrain can work, but only if you bring fresh creatives and a clear angle—otherwise, it’s a money pit.

Native ads feel more like experimental territory now, good for diversification but not core strategy.

I used to think the same. But then I tried native ads on a few platforms — turns out it’s not about the budget, it’s about the approach. For example, with MGID I managed to launch campaigns on a pretty modest budget — it just took finding the right format and headlines that actually hook people. Honestly, it was a nice change after all the constant rules and bans on Facebook. So don’t write off native just yet — test it yourself first.

Social/search are still your bread and butter; native’s a nice side hustle if you can handle the test-and-learn grind.

I wouldn’t dismiss native ads that quickly — it all depends on your niche and your ability to test properly. Social media works great, but once it gets oversaturated, native can bring that “fresh traffic” you just can’t get from Facebook or Google.

If you enjoy creative freedom and want to stand out, native is still worth a shot—just stay lean with spend.

Yeah, it’s still worth testing—native isn’t dead, just tougher; with solid storytelling creatives and tight whitelisting, you can still find profitable pockets even on a mid budget.

Yeah man, native can still work in 2025, but I’d only test it if you’ve got patience to dial in creatives—otherwise stick with what’s already printing for you.

Native ads are definitely still worth trying, especially with a strong creative and niche targeting; you don’t need a huge budget to start, just focus on testing and optimizing.

You can still make native work on a mid-budget if your creatives hook fast, but it’s all about testing small before scaling.

Native advertising through Taboola and Outbrain isn't "dead" but it has evolved; success now heavily relies on hyper-relevant targeting and compelling creative assets, especially with smaller budgets. It’s certainly worth testing within specific niches where your content aligns well with their user base, rather than abandoning social/search entirely consider a small pilot campaign to evaluate performance. Focusing on strong visuals and copy that truly resonates is key for getting traction.

Native can still pay if your offers and creatives match the traffic, but don’t expect it to be as easy or cheap as social/search without solid testing.
