I used to make these long, cinematic intros like cool transitions, fancy text, the whole deal. And guess what? 95% of viewers scrolled away in the first 3 seconds. Then I tried this stupid simple trick: start with a FAIL.
Example:
Old intro: "Hey guys! Today I’ll show you how to..." (BORING)
New intro: "This is how NOT to use SMM services" (immediately shows me getting an error message)
So, my retention jumped from 5% to 35% in a week.
Your first frame needs to trigger curiosity or emotion. No one cares about your intro- hook them FAST.

This strategy surely works.

Saw a few YouTubers who instantly start their videos like this: "Today I'm going to show you how to...." - it might help with the YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc. algorithm.

And I am sure all of these tech platforms have a hidden voice reader so they can decode the video, and feed it to the algorithm.

This is a great tip!.
I’ll try showing a mistake first to make people stay. Thanks for sharing.

Exactly! Platforms 100% scan audio/text for keywords. That’s why "failure" hooks work so well. Algorithms love conflict/curiosity terms like "mistake," "never do this," or "wrong way."
Fun test: try uploading the same video with two titles:
1) "How to use SMM Panels" (Generic = low CTR)
2) "Why most SMM Panels get you banned" (Problem-focused = algorithm candy)
The second always gets 2-3x more reach, even with identical content.

Just to hook the viewer, and keep them on the platform.

Marketers surely profit from this. Smart!

That is a great example, I was also looking for something similar.

I think it´s more focus in hook the viewer (fast). Maybe the algo shows more of this type of hook but because it learns what people are liking/engaging so you need to hook the people.

I think that no matter how much the algorithm shows it, if something fails in the hook at the end, it will not have engagement.

Lmao.. this one hit home. Yeah, this is spot on. I used to spend so much time making polished intros with animated text and transitions because I thought it looked more “professional.” But the analytics didn’t lie.. most people bailed before the actual content even started.

I tried flipping it like you said (started with a problem or a fail moment right off the bat) and my watch time noticeably improved. I think people just want to know why they should care, fast. No one’s sticking around for a fancy logo if they’re not already hooked.

I even spent money and bought one of those "Viral Hooks pack" and they've been very helpful. Happy to share them if anyone needs.

You can share it in the download section.

Yeap! And here’s the little secret- platforms don’t just keep viewers for you… they pay you for it.
The longer someone hesitates (even 0.5 seconds), the algo goes:
“Hmm… people are staring at this. Must be important.” and then BOOM, free reach.
You can weaponize this. Try:
1) First frame = question (Why does this ALWAYS happen?” + confused face)
2) First 3 words = conflict (This is broken…”)
3) First sound = gasp/sigh (Triggers mirror neurons)
My last failed experiment: a thumbnail with This video sucks as text. CTR went up 22%. :D

You’re spot on- the algorithm is just a mirror of what humans engage with.
I’ve tested this hard: even if TikTok initially boosts a video for using "trigger" keywords, the real decider is retention.
Example:
- Posted 2 versions of the same video:
A) "This SMM trick gets 500 followers fast!" (Strong hook, weak follow-through) = 15% retention
B) "Why most SMM tricks get you banned (and the right way)" (Hook + payoff) = 38% retention
Version B got 5x more reach because people watched longer.
Algo gives you the first push, but humans decide if it snowballs. Gotta nail both.

These hook formulas are gold!
If you're open to sharing, where do you source the viral hook packs?

Great idea! Starting with a fail or something curious helps keep viewers engaged. Avoid long intros—people need to be “hooked” from the very first second.
