A great idea; a wonderful share; repeatedly used on multiple throwaway sites for linkwheel tests.

But: essentially nothing shows up and none of the major search engines list a single link even after a week.

So, is this an Idea Whose Time Has Went? Have changes in how search engines index and record links made this type of linkbuilding action obsolete?

If you are checking at google for the backlinks then you will not see them! I would say google shows about 5% of all the backlinks out there and I think I am probably being generous! Especially as the original poster said that the sites being submitted to have low page rank!

It doesn't mean that just because google doesn't show the backlinks it wont consider them in some way. Google is in the information business not just the search business so they keep all information they collect, even if they don't publish it all. go to youtube and watch the google webmaster videos they even admit themselves that pagerank is only one ranking tool. There is also trust rank (which they don't publish) and they have a few others that are hinted at but no one at google ever talks about.

Use yahoo site explorer and you will probably see a big difference!

This is pretty good share! It really helps even if there are at least 40-50 backlinks. After all, something is better than nothing.

There is one problem though. Noone is addressing the fact that several people have been complaining about getting viruses using this.

goto google and type "add:yoursite.com" without the quotes of course.
