White Hat SEO focuses on long-term, sustainable growth by adhering to ethical practices. While Black Hat SEO may provide quick results, it risks severe penalties that could harm your site’s reputation and white hat is ethical in every way and plays within Google’s guidelines.

  1. Using ethical White Hat, you’re not looking over your shoulder waiting for Google HCU updates & no penalties.
  2. With black hat you are always looking over your shoulder when Google’s HCU Update kick-in.
Some businesses today thinks (hand on ❤️ heart) they are using ethical white hat strategies on their pages but in reality they are using black hat in some way. Traffic coming their way is lightning fast indicating black hat is being used and because it is not within Google’s algorithm formula so they is not searching for it.

Black Hat is a lot faster but Google has indicators like keyword stuffing, duplication, etc that will downgrade your pages but use the one that Google isn’t looking for and fast long-term growth is incredible fast.

I call it the sneaky black hat that hardly ever gets a penalty. I won’t supply where it is as it would be un-ethical.

Some have been using for over 20 years now and still almost all have not received a downgrade or penalty.

One well respected top SEO did, but he didn’t know where to look for it so removed everything on his page and started again from scratch. He waited around 6 months then re-applied it. He knows he is cheating but he’s getting away with it over all others who are playing by the white hat rules.

SEO is Slow;
  • Keep submitting new pages for indexing with a partially optimised page then SEO is a Marathon not a Sprint because you will only see indexing, with ranking you will have to wait.
People think they are submitting a fully optimised page to GSC but in reality Googlebot sees your page as just a partially optimised failure, so this is why your SEO will take time.
  • Send to GSC with a fully optimised page and your SEO is a Sprint not a Marathon.
When GoogleBOT sees the whole picture straightaway, it just indexes and ranks your pages straightaway, it doesn’t put you on hold to talk to Google’s bosses, it just indexes and ranks in Google’s search results within just a few hours.

White Hat SEO ensures long-term growth through ethical practices, while Black Hat SEO risks penalties and long-term harm for short-term gains.

White hat SEO is safer long-term because you’re building your rankings on real value; quality content, legit backlinks, and a site that actually helps users. You avoid penalties, keep your site stable during Google updates, and can build a brand that lasts.
Black hat can get quick wins, but those results rarely last. Sites get penalized, deindexed, or tanked after every big update. If you want sustainable growth, white hat is the better play. If you’re fine with churn and risk, black hat can work, but don’t expect longevity.

Great breakdown between the two approaches.
Sustainable methods take more time, but results last.
Helpful info for anyone starting with SEO.

I think there should be a healthy balance between the two. Too much white hat SEO gives me anxiety, while too much blackhat SEO makes me paranoid. I have to have balance within my SEO strategy. Some days I want to be good, while other days I want to be bad. And depending on how fast I need something to happen will determine whether I need to use Blackhat methods or not.
