I've been working with chrome extension and install growth for a while now, and recently i've noticed some shifts in google seems to react to spikes in installs or sudden engagement changes. Approval times are sometimes slower, and high volume install pushes don't seem to hold as much weight unless paired with strong engagement.

Anyone else here managing large-scale extension growth or running install campaigns seeing similar patterns?

Yeah, noticed the same. Google seems to weigh retention and actual usage more now, not just install spikes. Extensions with passive users or quick uninstalls are dropping faster. Solid engagement is definitely the new key.

I started noticing this after one of my test extensions hit 10K installs in 48 hours. It tanked in visibility right after. Now I’m experimenting with slower, geo-targeted drip installs + review pacing. Early signs look better.

Totally agree with you. It's not about getting installs anymore- Google's clearly watching how users interact after the install. I've started focusing more on keeping users active and engaged too.

Smart move! Slower, geo targeted installs might be the way forward- Curious to hear how the results turn out for you.

Yes, you're spot on. Google's gotten stricter about quality signals. Install spikes without real user activity (reviews, usage, retention) can flag your extension. They're weighing engagement metrics more now—like daily active users and event tracking—over just install volume. To grow reliably, mix installs with behavior-based triggers to keep it looking organic.

Lately, it feels like Google weighs engagement metrics more than raw install volume. Big spikes without solid retention or activity seem to trigger review delays or de-prioritization.

If you're noticing strange behavior from Google while using a Chrome extension, it could be due to a malfunctioning or malicious extension. Disable recently added extensions one by one to identify the cause. Always use trusted sources and check permissions before installing to ensure safe and stable browser performance.
Thanks for the suggestion, but i was actually referring to how google handles extension growth and approvals on the chrome web store side- like changes in how they respond to spikes in installs or engagement.

Yeah, noticing the same. Google seems to favor steady organic growth over sudden spikes lately. Mixing installs with real engagement (reviews, active sessions) works better for me. Anyone tried combining that with ads?

Yeah, G is def tracking install patterns tighter now. Spike w/o real usage = flagged fast. Better to spread growth, add solid UX signals like clicks, time-on-ext, low uninstall. Store algo got smarter.

Yeah, noticed the same-now i always combine installs with real usage signals to avoid red flags. Slow and Steady with Solid Engagement is the new game.
