I have a few thousand dollars set aside that I want to invest in myself — developing skills, maybe hiring a mental coach, taking some courses, gym membership, personal trainer and something like that. I'd love to hear your suggestions. How do you invest in yourself? Thanks!

Keep them aside, so you don't need to worry about bills or making money right away while you take a free course. Sport is also great, get a decent bicycle and get up early to ride for an hour or two every morning. You can also invest in some tools that you know you would need like upgrading your computer or getting some subscriptions for services that will get you to be more productive. It really depends on you.

But mental coaches sound a bit like a scam or a grift. If you want to invest in your mental health, get an actual licensed therapist that you personally like, not some hack of a mental coach who will just rinse you for your money and feed you platitudes and BS.

Invest in your physical health — gym, kickboxing, swimming, whatever gets you moving. When your body feels good, everything else becomes easier.

Then invest in skills you can actually use. Pick a course that teaches you something useful like editing, AI, copywriting, or coding etc. Anything that can help you make money later on.

Also, mindset matters — but I personally wouldn’t spend a penny on a “mental coach”, as I think it’s bs and awaste of money.

If you’ve got extra, maybe travel or take a short break somewhere new. You’d be surprised how much that can reset your brain.

Good luck, and looking forward to hearing what you end up doing.

I open trading accounts for myself and then try to make money on them.

Invest in yourself by focusing on what matters most: learn new skills, take care of your mind, and stay physically active. Spend on courses, a mental coach, and a gym or trainer. Consistency beats everything. What do you want to improve first?

do sport take care of yourself , go to the gym , do kickboxing and muay thai also they help with anxiety and low security , get a good diet , and start to think that you can do it
and meantime start working to make money.

Thank you for the great answers. So much information.

There was some rant about mental coaching being a scam. Well, if the mental coach is a scammer, then it is a scam. But if he or she really has certificates, knowledge, and knows what they're doing, then it's probably not a scam. All top athletes have a mental coach. Many successful people have one. The truth is that 99% of success is psychological. The biggest obstacle for everyone is fear of failure. If a mental coach is the only way for me to get rid of that, then I’ll go for it—whatever it takes.

Okay. You threw out many great points. Hard to decide where to start. I confess I’ve been very lazy for the last few months. So, exercise would be the place to start. I'm a little overweight—I’m sure fixing that will eliminate many of my problems. I can exercise for free, of course, but paying for it and joining some kind of "club" would give me much more motivation. And it’s much more social, which is definitely one of my top priorities. I want to find like-minded people. There’s a CrossFit gym near me, so I’m considering joining that.

Give me more ideas. I appreciate that. Thank you.

For those suggesting a mental coach, have you actually worked with one? How did it help you? Was it an in person or online setup? And if it was effective, can you recommend someone?
I don’t know what exactly you’re looking for, but I can recommend Jared Tendler. He’s a mental coach for poker players and traders, but I’m sure he knows a lot more than just that.

Well, that’s the problem. I’m very bad at making decisions. One day I want to improve my sleep, the next I want to start exercising, and the week after that I’m trying to memorize a deck of cards. The answer is pretty clear—I need to improve my ability to decide what to focus on and actually stick to it, lol.

developing skills for sure is good. what do you like? I like that idea of having a mental coach, someone to help with mindset and how to see things in different ways, etc

I'm planning to get back into sales, so maybe sales courses, books, etc. But the mental side is my biggest issue—how to stay motivated and confident even when every customer says "fuck you." It doesn't matter if you're the best in the world; all your skills go out the window if you get pissed off at every little setback. That’s why I’m interested in mental coaching. Hiring a mentor is also part of my plan, along with joining a community etc.

The biggest problem really is (as you can see with some people in this thread) that very few actually understand how the mind works. There’s no shortage of mindset coaches and online business gurus out there. I just wish I could figure out where to invest to find the right people to hire—those who could actually help me achieve my dreams.

That's all good stuff to do actually. It's also good to treat yourself but that should only be done when something worth the reward is done, otherwise you're still better off putting money on what adds value to your portfolio or even just personal value (like staying fit, etc.)
