I only have access to a laptop right now so I want to set this up properly.
Not sure if residential or mobile proxy is better in this case.

On what OS is your laptop based on? Let's say you're on Windows 10 64. Based on that, I recommend:

• Both mobile & residential proxies are good.
• Spoof it for Win 10
• Use an antidetect browser (I don't recommend using their app), to cover your fingerprints. There are many anti detect browsers who are offering free trials.

It’s safe to log into Instagram from a browser with a proxy, as long as your setup looks natural. Between residential and mobile, mobile proxies are usually better for IG since most users access it via mobile. But good residential proxies can still work fine, especially if paired with an antidetect browser like Hidemyacc or GoLogin to make your environment look more like a real user. That depends. If you are panning to use the web browser for automation; you account is at risk. However, if you plan on just using your account like normal, then its fine. Logging into a device is going to be the safer option.
