Does chatGPT know your location now?

I was surprised it provided an answer tailored to my geo saying particularly that I reside in x location when in fact my prompt never mentioned my location in any of the questions I asked.

What’s the deal, we are being tracked or am I missing something?

I used a proxy most of the time, proxy or not, I didn’t expect them to have gone that far.

Perhaps, disable WebRTC, as it could reveal your real IP address. DNS leak is also a possible reason.

I don't believe this, you must have mentioned your location in a previous prompt and ChatGPT is now using it for future responses based on your question. Check your previous conversations.

I am telling you guys. Someone in the thread said it’s about personalizing our experience. No it’s not! And that’s just bs.

If anyone wanna confirm this, just change all your location data of your account and billing address and asked it a location-oriented question or simply ask it where you are, of course it may deny this time.

It’s surprising, but you’re not being tracked. If it showed your location, maybe the app or website you used has location access turned on. It’s using info already shared by your device. You can check your settings to control what’s being shared.
