you mean yellowpages.com? waste of money - and it can be very expensive. I don't know a single person who uses sites like that. Better to spend your time and money promoting your site so you rank high in the organic SERPs.
Example, I just started doing SEO for a furniture company. They've been paying $5k/year for a yellowpages.com listing and have gotten NO business from it. In the 3 months I've been working for them they've brought in at least double that from their organic SERPs.

oh that is really good that your shared with me but my client is in canada and he was asking me to submit his site in yellow pages sites.. these are types of small search engines on the particular location anyways thanks a lot
I think what you're looking for is local business directory listings. . .
for $30.00, you can submit to hundreds of local business and gps directories. I charge my clients a pretty nice chunk for this service.

Totally agree, Yellow pages has had it's day, in fact that goes for any directory apart from backlinks. Organic SERPs all the way

Assumption - You have a brick and mortar business with a landline and a website.
FYI - Wednesday, May 9, 2007, Bill Gates Predicts End Of Yellow Pages. "Yellow Page usage ... will drop to zero, near zero over the next five years."
Many people are saying the that the printed Yellow Pages are going the way of the printed newpaper and news magazines.
Go find Google Cash Maps on this site (BHW) and download it. Realize that some of the items in there are out dated (such as using a P.O. box as an address - this does not work any more, Google has gotten wise). Watch the videos.
Though Google Cash Maps deals with Google, the same stuff mostly applies to Yahoo Local and Bing Local. Each is trying to become your new Yellow Pages on your computer and smartphone. One number somebody is throwing out there is that only 57% of people surveyed used the printed Yellow Pages last year.
RE: Internet Yellow Pages - Most internet yellow pages have a free listing. The ones I have dealings with are YP.com Yellowpages.com Superpages.com. Dexknows is the only one I believe that does not have a free listing I believe but I may be wrong because I have a paid listing. IYP listings are good because the search engines give these directories a very high level of "Google Luv or Juice" which helps you rank higher.
To monitor how you are doing go to www.getlisted.org. Unless your business is something like a hotel in Las Vegas you should not have much difficulty in getting on the first page for a search of your chosen keywords.
