I’ve launched a few Spanish websites recently and I’m wondering if getting links from foreign language sites can help without causing issues with Google. I’m being cautious since some of my previous sites were hit by updates. Any advice?

Yes but they should not be majority of the link profile.

Language of the content is more of a determining factor here than TLD or IP address by the way.

Google mostly considers relevance. Let's suppose your website niche is finance. Then, it's OK to get backlinks from a foreign language unless the niche is the same. In the case of foundational links or social media, such as profiles and social media links, English will be the primary language. So, consider the relevance and authority of the website first, and consider the authority later.

Yes, getting links from foreign language sites can help your Spanish websites, as long as the links are relevant, high-quality, and naturally placed. Google values topical relevance and authority more than language, but avoid spammy or unrelated backlinks — especially if you’ve had sites hit by updates before. Focus on building a natural link profile with a mix of relevant sources, and you’ll be fine.

Yes, it helps to diversify backlink profile for a steady SEO growth.

Yes, I'll keep the spammy ones for tier 2.

If the link’s niche-relevant, language don’t matter much, Google cares more about context.

Services purchased by thousands of people can often be removed within a few months. Therefore, you should avoid buying backlinks from places that sell backlinks as much as possible.

Foreign backlinks are important but their number should be less than your normal backlinks.

Foreign language backlinks can help your SEO, but only under certain conditions.

Foreign language links can help if they're relevant and high-quality. Focus on natural Spanish sites in your niche-avoid spammy networks. Relevance beats language every time.

Foreign language backlinks can help if they are high-quality and relevant. They show wider authority. For your Spanish sites, focus on links from authoritative Spanish websites for the best results. Avoid low-quality links to stay safe from Google updates.

Yes, foreign-language links are fine if they’re relevant and natural.

Google doesn’t penalize links just because they’re in another language — problems usually come from low-quality, irrelevant, or forced links, not the language itself.

They can help if they’re relevant

Foreign-language links are fine when the site, topic, and audience match

Random or spammy foreign links can still hurt, so focus on relevance and quality, not language.

Yes, if they come from relevant, high-quality websites, but irrelevant ones usually don’t help much.

Links from non-Spanish websites can still strengthen a Spanish sites SEO when the sources are credible, contextually related, and useful to the audience.

Getting links from foreign language sites can help, but only if they are relevant and natural. Focus on Spanish-language or region-related sites first. If using foreign links, keep them limited, contextually relevant, and high quality.

Foreign-language backlinks can help, but only when they make sense. If the site is relevant, trusted, and the link fits naturally, Google is usually fine with it. Random links from unrelated languages or regions can look unnatural and won’t add much value. For Spanish sites, prioritize Spanish-language or closely related markets first.

Foreign-language backlinks are only useful when they’re relevant and natural.

If the site’s language and audience don’t match your niche or target region, the SEO value is usually low. Relevance and link quality matter more than language.

Google cares more about quality and relevance than language itself.
