Well you look who its run by, and 20 something year old kid who doesn't have a board of directors to answer to, thinks he can do just about anything, and basically thinks he can change users view of privacy.
Contrast that to say Google, who can catalog every search term you typed for at least
2+ years, and has way more information about you. But is smart about how they treat privacy, and atleast puts on a gameface when talking to the media. Sure Google has had monumental privacy screwups, but they are always quick to say they messed up and make the changes.
Contrast that with Zuckerbrook. Who just say, oh yeah.. "we are facebook, we will do anything we please"

completely agree with you; this Zuckerberg kid thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants and get away with it. He is
no match for Google (just watch).
Then you factor in his caviler attitude towards privacy & those leaked Zuckerberg IM's. They way the company was founded (he hacked Harvard servers) and he also stole the idea from connectu dot com and delayed their project. He does think he change privacy norms. It is a big brotherish.

will not kill fake accounts.
Always keep your accounts tied to an exclusive proxy. No more than 5 proxies per account, or 2-3 to be extra safe. However, you can still face roadblocks due to wall posting and other BlackHat activities (even if you
do keep your accounts tied to exclusive proxies at all times).

FB have a database of everyone in the world? hell no, don't be stupid people, this won't have anything to do with accts being banned.....fb has too much going for it right now to piss off all it's users...which it will do soon enough anyway, but they won't do anything to speed up the process
FB is damn near dead with the over heightened security I've noticed recently, if users think ur a fake, ur acct's gonna be banned anyway.

I am sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with you my man. Yes, it will be used to tag friends, at least that is what FB wants you to believe. There is
no doubt it will do this, but it will also do
so much more. I do not think you understand what is going on here. They are designing an algorithm that is going to be able to recognize their users from their photos, and tag them accordingly. How could they do this
without creating a database? As far as your statement goes about "if users think you are fake you are going to be banned anyway" - I beg to differ. I have been wall posting with 100 fake accounts for the past four months...
blatantly fake accounts, mind you, and only a
handful of them have been disabled within this four month period. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt, because I do have a pretty unique wall posting method that I have been using. Furthermore, my point is that
everyone knows that these accounts are fake, but they
have not been banned (only a handful have been banned within a four month period). You would think they
would have been banned by now due to FB users reporting them as fakes, but once again, they have
not. Lastly, I run my wall poster 24/7.
No, FB will not have a database of everyone in the world. However, they definitely have a database of all of their users! If this was not the case, their platform could not run, and FB would cease to exist. Furthermore, we all know they collect
way too much information and store it in their various databases. They have also been caught sharing this information with third parties
without the user's explicit permission!
This will
definitely help improve their photo verification method; how could it not? My advice to
you is not to be "stupid" and believe FB's front that all they are going to be doing with this is tagging friends, and the fact that they
will not have to create a database in order to get this done. As I said, they already have various databases containing information about
ALL of their users. If they did not, FB would cease to exist. I am suggesting all of this in a
respective manner, so please do not take what I am suggesting the wrong way.

It is a
well known fact that police cruisers are equipped with the type of technology that the guy is mentioning in the above quote. Guess what it is called!? Optical Character Recognition! Yes, the same OCR that captchas are based off of, except these are real-life images. I know the police cruisers in my city are
DEFINITELY equipped with this technology, and its primary purpose is to scan and detect vehicle's license plates that have been reported as stolen. Do a Google search on this, and you will see
exactly what I am talking about.
Once again, there is
no reason to worry people! It is not like FB would
ever fathom sharing this database (or any of their other databases for that matter) with
anybody in the
wildest dreams! After all, their Privacy Policy is top-notch and they have
never been caught sharing user data without the user's explicit permission! [/sarcasm]
