Background: I used to work at a app startup as their product manager for 3 years. The app was making 25k+ month and it was all done by a indie dev founder. However, I wasn't happy with the job so I quit and thought about starting my career as indie app dev.
It's been a year since I started on this journey. I will give you a quick recap of what happened so far:
1. Took a course on Udemy to learn Flutter (Took me a month to learn)
2. Started building my first app: it's a b2b app, no ads completely relying on IAP subscription.
3. Took me 3 months to complete the app.
4. Registered a company in US and got duns number, and bank acc.
5. Registered a google play console account.
6. Then tried to access open testing and bam, got hit by an email saying "Your account is terminated for high risk behavior". Completely baseless, appeal doesnt work.
I took it as a lesson "Never put your eggs in 1 basket" especially Google. And thank god i didnt learn Kotlin and chose Flutter! Doesnt matter: i still have iOS, Windows and Web!
And I also found comfort in knowing that iOS generates twice as more revenue with IAP that android despite have much smaller userbase.
7. Worked on the iOS build
8. Created apple dev account, took a week to activate.
9. Published the first app on iOS , huge milestone!
10. All this while I was also working on the second app in parallel. It's b2b for a specific niche of business. It is quite complex and took me months to build.
11. Should finish and launch the second app in a month.
12. Will also launch for desktop: MS store

Tech stack: Flutter & Firebase
IDE: Cursor

Hey, I’m really sorry to hear that. But what was the risk factor in your application?

Yet Flutter is backed by Google.

Firebase is also the same.

However, good luck for your journey.
Even though flutter is developed by Google, its open source. U have full control over it.
Never heard anyone getting their Firebase account permanently banned so that's fine too.
Even though they are all google, different departments have different rules and policies.

Nothing, it was a completely clean Crud app that i built from scratch.
I still have a personal dev account that's not banned, but I dont feel like working on that anymore. The 12 testers thing is a drag.
Also who knows, one day their bot can just terminate the account for no reason. So as per stores go:
Apple>>MS store> Galaxy store>>>>>Play store
That's my priority .

I see a ton of difference between how apple treats their devs and how Google does.
Apple is like, "Great, thanks for working so hard on the app. We will give u a shot"
Google is like "Another one of you?! Indie?! Yikes.. "
MS and Samsung treats u like a king

Google doesnt respect devs for sure. I read many reddit stories of small companies losing their play account and instead of telling a reason why, google bot just replies "Sorry, your account remains terminated because there is a violation that we confirm". I mean a person is losing his business and that's all u can say? That's purely evil.
Hope the US gov someday takes action and forces them to disown the play console.
They are already doing that with Chrome!

Until then I dont mind making less money, maybe 10k instead of 15k , it's more than enough for me anyway, but I wont publish any app on play.

Impressive evolution from Udemy course to launching apps and creating your own company... I hope you can reach your final goal, good luck
Thanks, It has been quite a journey so far and I have a feeling it's just the tip of the iceberg

Your goal seems promising! Good luck with your journey.
Thanks!

It was this one, I just did like 33 percent to learn the basics and then got impatient and started building my own stuff. Never touched it again. I think hands on teaches u the best once u know the basics

I'm curious about how you designed your app. Did you build it yourself or hire others?
Also, do you have a marketing strategy?

I aspire to become an indie developer someday, but as a junior dev, there are still many uncertainties for me.

For my first app I didnt have any design, just did whatever I had in my head, trial and error.
For my second app, I did the designs using a tool called Visly. It's more of a user friendly version of Figma with ai features like screenshots/drawing to wireframes.

Marketing - aso and search ads. For b2b you dont have many options

Good luck in your journey!!! is unfortunate you got a tep back with google but still in a really good position keep it up.

Good luck on your journey, may I ask how much times you dedicated daily for the course ?
