Ok, I got it. BHW is not entirely against AI content and I agree, because there are always that 5% of people using it for a good purpose. But most users are not well-intended, they just want to flood, inflate their post counter and generate useless thread to this forum. With that in mind, I thought about flagging this kind of content, user and comments as AI-generated, so we don't need to waste our time reading it or dealing with botted users.

01) AI Posts - a mod can put this tag/flag indicating that the post will remain active and it's not against BHW rules, but it is AI generated, so, if you want to waste your time reading generic info, go ahead. After some reports from members, mods can detect those posts.

My additional suggestion: a post flagged as AI generated doesn't count for your post counter ;) - that would discourage them.

Example:

02) AI Users - after several reports, I guess a member can receive this badge. Even if it's a hybrid member, sometimes using a bot and sometimes writing manually, everybody should be aware that this kind of user is not entirely human and they repeatedly create posts with content generated by AIs. Of course, this only applies for users that repeatdely do that.

Example:

03) AI Comment - after some reports, mod is allowed to classify this kind of comment as AI generated. As a result of it, the comment is still visible and available, but you need to click to view it. So, if you want to read a generic answer, go ahead, but most people don't want to read this kind of stuff and we wouldn't even need to quickly scrow down as we are doing right now.

The only issue I can see about it is giving more work for our busy mods. Thinking about it, maybe Jr.Executive members could also be allowed to view those reports and take action, raising the amount of people with rights to do that (except for the second suggestion ,that would require a mod action). But if our mods can handle that, this can be ignored.

Maybe go a step further and get a master functionality of getting such posts to not appear compulsorily and maybe give an option.

A. Do you want to see AI posts/ answers?

YES/ NO.

Flagging isn't a solution IMO.

Flagging AI-generated posts can be useful in maintaining content authenticity, but it also has drawbacks:

Pros

✅ Prevents Spam & Low-Quality Content – AI-generated posts often lack depth and originality, so flagging them helps maintain discussion quality.
✅ Reduces Misinformation – AI can sometimes produce incorrect or misleading information, so labeling it helps users be cautious.
✅ Encourages Transparency – If users know a post is AI-generated, they can judge its reliability accordingly.

Cons

❌ False Positives – AI detectors aren’t perfect, and legitimate human posts might get flagged incorrectly.
❌ Discourages Useful AI Assistance – Some AI-generated content (when properly edited) can be valuable, and auto-flagging could prevent good contributions.
❌ Potential for Bias – Flagging could lead to discrimination against AI-assisted users even if their content is high quality.

Final Thought

It depends on the context. If AI-generated content is low effort or misleading, flagging is beneficial. But if the AI-generated post is well-edited and valuable, auto-flagging could be unfair. The key is moderation that balances quality control without unnecessarily restricting useful AI-assisted content.

I like this idea too
I would implement both, if you answer ''no'', you don't even see AI-flagged posts, users and comments

Could a Bulbasaur evolve into an Ivysaur without battles?

You guys are trying to close Pandora's box, but any fight against AI will only make it evolve.

There is no solution, even Turing tests are obsolete, humanity's days are numbered in this digital environment, how do you plan to defeat a shark in its own habitat?

Not much time is left, to be honest. Who knows what December will bring? Maybe ChatGPT 5? Or even worse, a new DeepSeek at an even more ridiculous cost, tearing down any entry barrier.

Have you heard the story of Guam? An invasive snake arrived on the island in the 1940s, and it had no predators. Guess what happened? Do you want to know how the island is now? How is the ecosystem? I'm not talking about the extinction of almost all native bird species; I'm talking about the entire ecosystem. It's devastated! Without birds, there's no one to spread seeds, and many trees can't reproduce. Spiders have proliferated, and it's a complete disaster. I've summarized it briefly. Similarly, the internet is dying.

The culture of future generations is being created by machines, and in turn, that culture will be processed by more machines. Forget it, it's over. Enjoy the few remaining days of the internet, or you can comfort yourselves with the fantasy that everything will be fine, nothing will happen.

Something bad is going to happen, sooner or later. Those who try to save the world will be the ones who bring about its end.

I would prefer just having them removed honestly as it is currently...
This would just promote users of any level to spam the forum with AI generated trash on all kinds of topics.
It may increase activity, but not in a good way imo.
Some users are not so bright, and if they see some Jr VIP tag or above posted it, they will believe it as if it was 100% correct facts.

It's gonna be tremendous amount of work, to clean up AI posts, sort them and etc.

But if rule was implemented, not to accept AI content I guess, it would stop all this spam posts fast, just would be hard at first, to clean up and enforce.

But lets be honest, everyday more and more people use AI profiles to just spam, senseless posts.

I mean if it was hybrid or AI edited and etc. fine.

But most of the time it does not even make sense.

If this continues, we real users might end up in minority.....

And in the end, forum's content quality might drop.

But to sort them/tag them that it's AI generated content makes sense actually.
Also, we could ask users who post AI content, to label it/disclose it in a title/description at top!

BHW used to remove ai comments and posts in 2023. I’ve reported a few recently and now they don’t remove them. I’m sure they have their reasons. BUT they definitely should be removed if it’s low quality, misinformation, etc.

The other day I saw a guy post a totally outrageous comment that called bitcoin and solana stable coins and gave terrible totally incorrect advice. It was absolutely ai generated imo.

I used Claude to correct the bad comment and call out the misinformation lol

Just because everyone has access to ai doesn’t mean they should be using it if they don’t know about the topic themselves so they can be sure the ai is correct. In some cases misinformation could be very detrimental to unsuspecting, unknowledgeable people that are simply looking for help and advice.

I'm just going to use the wonderful ignore button from now on. For those that are finding themselves on it with their ai responses, you don't know who you are. ;) The less interaction we give them, the better.

they are not currently removed, they are not against the forum's rules

agree, but they are not removing them as you mentioned

I'll offer my 2 cents which is worth about .25 cents if you look at NVIDIA stock days.

BHW is not a Freedom of Speech entity in that there are restrictions that keep the forum in order, stops illegal activity when seen, and @Impulse's three rules but we cannot go past a certain line.

AI is here, Folks, will be here and only get bigger/stronger/smarter/moreuseful and even though some content may not be accurate all the time, our own personal thoughts are not 100% accurate at times. Trust me, I'm married, and I know I'm not accurate 100% of the time and so are you.

But consider that the majority of the AI that is being used here, compared to the number of AI posts that would embarrass almost anyone, the %'s are not in favor of AI being horrible.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan in some instances, actually many, but I use it at times for my personal work life and if used correctly is a nice tool.

An Admin (the people I answer to) will pop in and offer something either definitive or something that they want to put on the table for the staff to kick around so I'm not locking this but just sliding out of it.

Heart react your two cenbts lol

- I am an old school forum owner. No one is a free speech entity but the government. I wouldn’t be here if BHW was from the government. Makes total sense. To me. Thanks for the explanation and experience BTB

Some times a big chunk of nonsense needs to be called out to help a newbie not follow that advice.

Alright, I think this thread has run it's course. I asked the other admin to keep it open so I could see what everyone's thoughts were.

1. Yes, AI content is allowed. People choosing to use it still has to follow ALL of the forum rules. If you think they're breaking the forum rules, please report them and we'll take a look.

2. There have been some ideas mentioned here. I will jot them down for when the topic next arises internally.

3. The ignore feature is fantastic.

4. If you see someone posting wildily inaccurate information report it WITH PROOF. So if you're an expert in the topic and know the info is wrong, you should be able to give us links showing us why they're posting wrong information.

We're not ignoring you guys but as Damien and other staff has mentioned, AI is here to stay. We all have to learn to adapt and work with it. We're figuring out what that means for BHW so you need to be a little more patient. We hear you, we see your threads about it, we see your reports (and seriously, thank you for them - even if rejected they're not a waste of time, trust me on that).
