You should post consistently. You never know which video will hit with the audience and then your channel will also pick up from there. Consistency is the key to success on YouTube.

At start, I would say 1 per day. But niches vary in how they perform.

It always starts small, sometimes even less than 5. Depending on your content, depending on your niche, depending on your approach, it will take a while to ramp up. It bears repeating that consistency is key in Youtube and that's still very much true. Going back to that niche, you should really stick with it when you have one as pivoting your content to something else can hurt you. It's the classic reason why Youtubers have seperate channels for other other content which doesn't fit into their main channel.

Upload videos frequently, you need 1 video to go viral. So start uploading daily if possible.

It just takes the right one.
I done a nice little less than 10 second animation. That seems to be almost evergreen, it seems to starting to thin now though, but I'm finishing a current project and then its back to animations! lol
The first video has almost done 10k views.
Some of my animations I'm lucky if I get a view a month, lol but others are regular, and I can see that I've not been in the game long enough to consider myself worthy of monetization compared to the channels I follow.
Will get there though, just got to keep at it, and get a mountain of content made regularly for the day that the channel goes super viral from 1 video, and I have enough to keep pushing after that. (I can see that's happening in small amounts from my current good performing video)

Try to keep your videos on one theme
A title and description for your videos as keyword queries
And of course, content that is likely to be of interest
You must realize that results are not always instantaneous
