Google Abusive Experience Report & Hosting

Hello, I was hoping I could get some insight about this. I’ve checked these forums but haven’t found a clear answer so all perspective would be appreciated.

One of the websites I had got a good amount of traffic so I decided to put ads on it and then got hit with an Abusive Experience Report form sir Google. And my keyword rankings went from top 3 to be 40s overnight.

I’ve since removed the ad networks code form the website and requested a review. Will my website recover ranking wise?

As I was on a shared hosting plan, will this negative footprint impact any other domain I host with this shared plan and its ranking potential?

I don't know about the AER report, but using shared hosting is NOT negative footprint. And if google (or any other company) tells you that shared hosting is bad you should show them the middle finger and do what you want anyway. You, people, need to stop complying, honestly...

As for the AER report, I wouldn't be surprised for google to ban all monetization methods soon, these fuckers really don't want anyone else to make money (or even existing), but them. I hope that I'm wrong and that you did indeed use too many ads or whatever the reason for your ban was (too many ads can indeed lead to bad user experience, I hate this too so don't stuff your site with ads), but if you only used a few of ads but still got put into your place it's time you take matter into your own hands and choose what YOU want to do with YOUR OWN site instead of letting mobsters decide for you...

Thanks for the insight! So yeah I think there may have been too many ads, but trying to remedy with uncle G. Just sucks because there was so much traffic in a short period of time and was unsure of the best way to monetize so in panick I used the ad networks lol. Only did the networks because it took google 6 days… to just reject ( so you’re right fk em). But also they may have rejected because my patience didn’t wait more than the “48hrs” to start looking for other ad networks haha, so maybe rejected because of the ads already on the site…

When creating a new website targeting the same keywords, the traffic has been less than impressive. New one is almost two days old and only got 13 google clicks and 633 impressions. A much slower start than the original, hence why wondering if it’s a shared hosting issue but maybe too soon to tell.

Because if it's Adsense, they might indeed have a lot of weird (restrictive) rules like shared hosting. But I thought you were referring to random ad networks, in that case I stand by my point in saying that google has no right telling you what to do with your site..

Not Adsense as they were too slow with approval, so I sought others as traffic picked up, ended up with adcash and adsterra… but poor CPM. Then tried hilltop for a few hours and after that she was dust as far as the google rankings & traffic.

you tried these networks WHILE you were waiting for Adsense approval, or AFTER you got rejected?

Because if this happened during your application process Adsense's systems might have detected something wrong with your site (because of one of those networks), which could make you lose the rankings and get the AER. It's not a given, but it is possible...

It is possible that one of the networks you've used is injecting malware / phishing stuff into your site's code and from what I know Adsense is very sensitive about this stuff.... well, they used to be 10 years ago when I last used them, god knows what they're doing now. But it's still a possibility...

If you got the AER after you've been rejected by Adsense then most likely you've indeed put too many ads on your site (although - as bad as this is from a user perspective - I still think google has no business telling you what to do with your site)... or, if the number of ads is not the problem, something else I can think of is that you've filled too much of the "above the fold" space with ads and google might not like this (it's happened to one of my sites many years ago when I filled about 70-75% of the fold with ads and then I got warnings about bad user experience )...

So yeah, if you filled at least 40-50% of the fold with ads this might have caused the AER report too...

With regards to your initial question (will the website recover the rankings): I would normally say yes, once you fix the issue that triggered the AER your rankings should recover since this is most likely an algorithmic (so, not manual) penalty and with algo penalties you can sometimes recover automatically if you fix the issue.

But I said "normally" because I can see that your site is new, and many times, new sites do get an initial influx of clicks and impressions (probably google testing your site out to "figure out" where to rank you after the test is over), so - AER or not - you would have lost these rankings anyway in about 1-2 weeks. That's why I said that normally you should recover if you fix the issue, but in your case the "normally" part doesn't apply because your site is new

And I still think that the shared hosting part has nothing to do with all of these. Like I said, depending on your standing with Adsense, it could either be a matter of code injection by one of the networks, or it could be a matter of filling up the fold with too many ads, these are the first 2 things you should look into but regardless of which one is at fault, I don't think you will regain the rankings if this was just a test from google. Of course, you can keep on doing SEO and - if everything is clean - your rankings could come back over time if you do the right things. But if you expect the regain the rankings INSTANTLY (or at least in the next 2-3 days) I don't think it will happen even if you figure out the issues.

But that's just my opinion, you don't have to trust me, of course

For placing ads on your site, your site gets slow and some other problems arise on it. Just try to use pa lugin like wp rocket. your problem will be solved.
