[Journey] Building an iOS & Android App Empire

That doesn't make sense on any level. He said himself that someone else was stealing his screenshots so why would he ask them for the app name? If he knows it's happening then he must obviously already know which app it is otherwise what in tf is that statement based on....
This was his quote: "Someone stole my screenshots and used it for their own app."

You think he doesn't know which app it is but knows for sure that someone stole the screenshots? You really didn't think at all before you posted that did you.
"So, what happened next was: I got a call from an Apple employee. Took around 3 minutes. Turns out the actual problem were the screenshots. Someone stole my screenshots and used it for their own app."
Are you dense? Read the context

Must be a ragebait

He didn't say Apple told him that someone stole his screenshots otherwise why tf would they be rejecting his app for that? That would be beyond insane even for apple. It seems more like he found that out afterwards, not that they told him they were rejecting his app because someone stole his screenshots lol.

Read the whole context:

"Someone stole my screenshots and used it for their own app. LOL. And I had no idea about it, of course not, because I don't search the App Store for other new apps all the time. Apple thought I copied the screenshots and it was my fault. Then the Apple employee kinda roasted me and said "Do not copy screenshots, I repeat: Do NOT copy screenshots". "

So basically they told him someone stole his screenshots and right after told him not to copy screenshots????? Makes no sense on any planet.

Also if apple told him that someone was stealing his screenshots then when I asked why he didn't report this app he wouldn't have said he had no time to go scraping looking for an app with his screenshots, he'd just say "apple already know since they were the ones that told me". The whole thing just doesn't make sense at all really.

I think you completely misunderstood something, also, I feel too tired to even explain this crap as they have already approved my update by now.

No, I really didn't know someone stole my screenshots until the Apple employee actually called me and accused me of stealing screenshots. Which is not logical, because I published my app in 2022 and didn't change the screenshots since then. Of course I do not know who stole my screenshots, who do you think I am? Do you think I search all the apps, all the time for what screenshots they use? Hello? And no, Apple also didn't tell me WHO or WHAT APP used my screenshots, and frankly, I do not give a shit what dork did it. What do you expect me to do? Email him? "Hey, you use my screenshots, can you change it?" Fuck no, I have wasted three weeks with this shit, I don't wanted to waste any additional time. Lets not be idiots here.

Just lets move on from this shit

Okay, moving forward from this situation, I have already published a new app a few days ago that already made me money. When you upload/publish a new app, it is definitely better to focus on keywords only and not on branding. Why? Because Apple gives your app an initial boost in downloads for 7 days. So, there more keywords you target, the more downloads you get.

Also, lets keep this in mind: The most people do not give a shit about your unknown brand. They only care about your brand if you are already established or got publicity/hype. Thats an important point, do not forget it. How to get this hype? Media coverage, influencers in the same niche, shitload of videos on TikTok, Youtube, Reels, etc. Easiest way are probably influencers in the same niche. But this depends on your app.

I haven't worked with any influencers yet. Mostly, because I know how easy it is to fake views, subs, engagement, etc. it would require some time to figure out if someone is actually legit.

What else I did these days: I have an app that ONLY makes me money on Admob. I didn't have any IAP integrated. This app gets 2k organic downloads per week! Now, I added IAPs to the app and added some premium features. Lets see what is going to happen. Could turn out to make me more money than in does with Admob only.

Next App:

I have a couple of ideas for apps. Two of these ideas are easy to do. Would maybe take me 7-10 days to build and publish the app. So right now I am thinking if I should do these two first. However, I really want to make the Crypto AI Agent app.

Yesterday I did some research. Here is how I did research.

AI:

Used Grok, ChatGPT o1, ChatGPT 4o, DeepSeek Chat, DeepSeek R1, Claude 3.5 to gather all information as possible. Told them I want to make an Crypto AI Agent app and it should give me a list of features the app should include, brief summarize how I can integrate these features, what APIs and SDKs are needed, etc.

Copy and pasted every output of each model into one single word file.

YouTube:

I went on YouTube and searched for 10-15 videos for this topic. Some dorks talking about Crypto AI Agents. Of course I didn't listen to it at all. What I did was the following:

- Downloaded the videos as MP3
- Used the AI model "Whisper" to transscribe these videos, so now I had it all as a text.
- Copy and pasted all the texts from each videos into one single word file as well.

Blogposts:

Searched the web for articles around Crypto AI Agents. Additionally searched on Medium.com. Found 10-15 articles, copy and pasted all of them into one word file.

Next, I used AI again. Uploaded the three files into DeepSeek R1 and ChatGPT o1. Told them I want to build an iOS Crypto AI Agent app, based on all the information I provided, what features should it have, what API/SDK should it use, give me a structure of screens, etc.

So, this is how I have done the research. Instead of endless hours, I used AI, YouTube and Blogposts as source. Then used AI to summarize all of it and give me features.

It seems like making the app is quite complicated. I am not a crypto expert. Also, I am not a coding expert.

However, I understood one thing: Time is crucial. I have to publish the app as soon as possible. The sooner the better. So I will probably make a MVP with very basic features (still decent tho) and then just keep adding new features and improvements.

Monetization:

- IAPs
- No banner ads, maybe not even interstitial or rewarded ads (I do not think adding Google admob ads to such an app is a good idea, it makes the app look cheap)
- Paid ads from coins/companies/entrepreneurs (can earn big!)
- Making my own coin and add it to the app (but as I said, I am not a crypto expert, it will take time)

I will start with the app right away.

Any new tools you're using for keyword research?

I'm wondering you process on app Analytics, like what stats are you manly looking at and which are you the key ones to follow to grow the app, also your average results and what you aim to reach, and what you improve once you have the datas

SHINE BRUH SHINE!

upddddddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee pls :weep: :weep: :weep:
going to upload my special 5 months old in making app today (wasted my time)

Update for January 2025

First of all, I have to say: I spent the first half of January just dealing with Apple and trying to fix one of my apps. This also means, I almost had no time to do other stuff.

However, I managed to publish two new apps which already made me around $500 since then. Yes, if you target the right keywords, go into the right niche and optimize your apps for IAPs, you will immediately earn money.

Earnings

Admob/Ads: $3910

eCPM increased and in one of my apps, I completely changed to Rewarded Ads only. Before it also had Interstitials integrated. Rewarded Video ads have by far the highest eCPM.

IAP: $14650

A slight increase. Unfortunately, I was so busy in December (literally had to be a tour guide for my family and after that for my friends) and my time was extremely limited. Also, I spent much less money on paid ads.

In total, I spent around $2000 in ads. Mostly Google Ads. I just kept it running. From this $2000 I spent around $500 for Apple Search Ads Basic.

other expenses: several API: $400, and other smaller expenses such as domains for around $120 in total

Expenses: $2520

Breakdown: $16040

Figuring out

One thing I really have to figure out are the paid ads. I need to scale my apps. As of this moment, I just keep improving them to get a better ROI, but I also need to improve my ads. I need to create more ad creatives, try different stuff, and so on.

Also, these days I will finally contact some startup programs from Microsoft, Tencent, and so on to get credits and freebies.

Right now working on an update of my app.

- Will improve the onboarding process (will also set up event tracking for each screen)
- Will improve paywalls in the app
- Will change wording of some elements. For example will use "Continue with Apple" instead of "Sign-in with Apple" for an increased sign up rate.
- Will add more features to the app that will differentiate it from competitors

In App Store Connect Analytics I saw that some of my traffic is also coming from search engines. I will make backlinks to the app store listing to see if I can rank the app for certain keywords.

But most importantly, after publishing the update I will make a high risk marketing move, which could either end up improving my overall earnings, or it could cost me a lot of money. After I did it, I will let you guys know what I exactly did

How you find niches so easily and earn, it seems impossible.
Many old guys struggle to get any downloads or paid users for new apps.
ASO is pretty much useless. Paid ads seems to be only way to get any traction and even than may die out next day.

What? Please have a look at the Top 100 charts for each category right now and you will easily find 4-5 niches.

Especially with AI, there are unlimited new niches. Make an app where you take a photo of food and it gives you a recipe for it. Make an app where you use AI to summarize books and then another AI for text to speech. Make an AI where you take a photo of food and it tells you how much calories it has, and so on. Or do something like a Personal Health Coach and use AI to make custom diet plans, etc. Guys, seriously, its incredibly easy to come up with viral app ideas.

ASO is definitely not useless. You are targeting the wrong keywords or go into unpopular niches

Do you worry about competition? There are dozens of different AI apps of that type in the App Store right now, I don't know how easy it would be to stand out with ASO, although maybe it's better to go for the ads and try to be creative.

I tell you something, I do not worry about them at all.

If you carefully check out all the competition, you will find most of them have shitty apps with zero to non features. I really focus on building the best possible app, most possible features. Best possible onboarding experience.

Its very easy to survive in a saturated market, if your app is simply better than the rest.

But most importantly, you have to enter the niche as soon as possible. Going into a niche as early as possible is a huge advantage.
