Nah, youtube is a monopoly like Google and Facebook and Instagram. Algo pushed down to you not you push it up to youtube.well, for once YT is recommending the good stuff, let's not jinx it

I don't think it's a monopoly anymore as other video platforms exist (rumble, odysee, bitchute, etc), but it has the most market share if that's what you mean.
However, its algo still recommends a lot more of what people are searching, so I assume that a lot of folks are into the 80s music since YT keeps pushing this. But like I said, this is just an assumption, I don't know what's going on exactly (and I haven't noticed either tbh), but I'm not complaining as the 80s have been the best

Rumble odysee are for livestreamers and their fan boys. Bitchute is for banned videos. Absolutely, the '80s had an unmatched sense of freedom and style! From the energy of the era to the timeless fashion, it really was a golden time.

in terms of movies and TV shows the 90s definitely beats the 80s, that's the only exception I'm willing to concede
.... oh, and Wrestling, I feel like there have been more interesting wrestlers in the 90s (Undertaker, Doink, etc) than in the 80s... But when it comes to music, cartoons and Jackie Chan (my favorite action movie actor until recently) the 80s are sacred...yep, fully agree!

and on and on, and on.... these are just a few of the biggies that I've found by skimming through my mp3 collection, but I'm sure I could come up with at least 50 more bands / solo performers that have been big in the 80s if I set my mind to it....
It's true that I could come up with at least 50-60 big bands and performers for the 90s as well, but like I said, for me the 80s have been the magical decade so I am obviously biased towards this era. But in all honesty, bands like Queen and ABBA (arguably 2 of the top 10 bands of all time across ALL genres of music) did peak in the 80s, so in this regard the 80s have been better

never been a console guy (and yes, I did own one at some point, but only for a few months and then I gave it away to a relative as he had no console / PC back then and I already had a PC), so I can't relate to this.
As for the LAN parties, these came in mid to late 90s for me, my introduction to the internet had been in mid-90s when I also got my first computer, so I couldn't know about LAN parties prior to that, so I got into LAN parties in late 90s-early 2000s.
But they've been amazing indeed, we would gather at one of our high school classmates since he was the only one that lived in a house (the rest of us were living in apartments / flats, so there was not enough room for LAN parties there).... but at this guy's house we would gather Friday after noon after we were done with school and up until Sunday morning we would play Bomberman, NFS, FIFA, Quake, and Starcraft all day and all night.... oh the fights and bickering we've had over video games (yes, we were in high school and yes, we were reaching the age of 18, but grown-ups we've never been when it came to video games
)Anyway, in this regard the 90s have been cool indeed, but this decade had marked the start of the technology zombifying of society in my local area and - despite of how much fun it's been - when it comes to freedom, energy and possibilities absolutely nothing beats the 80s IMO. Not when it comes to the openness of people, not when it comes to fashion or martial arts (Hong Kong-made) movies with the likes of Jackie Chan and Cynthia Khan, and definitely not when it comes to music in general, but to electronic music in particular.
To be honest, I don't think I would want the 80s to come back as it't not been all rosy, but I'm just happy that I got to experience it as a kid

It's not an algorithm thing. When it comes to music, the 80s were simply killing it. Especially between 84 and 86. Those years are some of the best. This is the era when synthesizers flourished and also computers became available to the public. So, creativity went to the next level. People these days find these times to be simpler and creative. So, they enjoy sharing things from the era. Also, TV shows like Miami Vice, and movies like Scarface made this era timeless.
